About this item

  • Comprehensive Ball Lock Keg Fitting Kit: This MRbrew kit, consisting of a 5FT gas line, ball lock disconnect kit, and a carbonation cap, provides a complete and convenient solution for your carbonation needs. This high-quality set works seamlessly with ball lock Keg or soda PET bottles, enhancing your keg and carbonation process. You can easily carbonate beverages or beers quickly and effectively.
  • Leak-Free Pressure Gas Line: With a 7mm internal diameter, this robust kegging tubing is thick enough to prevent kinks and maintain shape stability, ensuring smooth gas transfer without leaks. The hose clamps secure the tubing, making it ideal for transferring CO2 to your keg, providing a reliable way to carbonate your beer, kombucha, or other beverages.
  • Durable and Efficient Ball Lock Disconnect: The fitting kit includes a gas ball lock disconnect and a 5/16” OD brewing nipple barb. Crafted from high-quality PBT material, the ball lock disconnect offers excellent oil resistance and a smooth surface for easy cleaning. The stainless steel post nipple barb are highly corrosion-resistant, ensuring durability and preventing rust.
  • High-Pressure Carbonation Cap (60 PSI): Designed for secure and efficient carbonation, the carbonation cap can connect to both gas and liquid disconnects easily . Featuring a 1-1/8”-8UN female thread, it screws onto most 2L soda PET bottles, ensuring a tight, airtight seal. It handles up to 60 PSI pressure, maintaining carbonation overnight to prevent beer or soda from going flat.
  • Versatile and Long-Lasting: Made from durable, food-safe plastic and stainless steel, the corny keg draft CO2 gas line and carbonation cap are resistant to rot, swelling, rust, and odors. These materials stand up to regular cleaning and keep carbonation gas pure. Perfect for use with ball lock disconnect fittings, this kit is ideal for carbonating beer, kombucha, or soda at parties, picnics, or even in your garden.

I've used a set like this for about 8 years now, replacing my Sodastreams etc. I've used for decades. I wanted another of the stainless bottle cap mostly, but I also appreciate the hose clamps with the plastic thumb screws. The fitting uses a 7/16-20UNF thread, which was not mentioned in the listing. I am happy for this since it matches my other gear. The keg fitting is exactly the same as all of my others, but the stainless cap is a bit different. if you unscrew the center on most of them you will find a spring and a check valve with an o-ring on it. They are typically held together by the threads themselves compressing the parts. This one however, has a ring clip underneath of the threaded part. This means you cannot take it apart tool free (the others only need to be finger tight) to clean that checkvalve. I don't really like that. It's not enough to dock a star since this is a set and over all it's 5 star worthy.

You can use this kit either for beer carbonation or for carbonating soda. I use it to carbonate soda water. Hence what I love most about this $20 MRbrew carbonation line kit (Amazon ASIN B0DZVX1VDZ) is that it comes with everything you need to carbonate soda water from any carbon dioxide tank second-stage pressure regulator output connection. Also what I love second most is I can carbonate ANY size soda bottle with the stainless steel carbonation valve. With the commercial kitchen sodamakers, you can only carbonate their proprietary bottles because the caps only fit their machines. The stainless steel carbonation cap that comes with this kit fits ANY PET (plastic) soda bottle because they all use what is colloquially called "coke bottle threads".Thirdly what I love about this kit is I can crank up the bubbles from the measly 20 psi that the kitchen sodamakers provide, to around 60 psi, which is impossible with kitchen soda makers. And fourthly, I love that I'm saving the environment because I'm re-using empty soda bottles instead of throwing them in the recycling bin to be melted. Oh, and let's not forget that I'm saving money because I don't have to buy soda, nor do I need to drive to the store and back with heavy bottles of soda in my trunk. Everyone wins but the soda companies. One five pound CO2 tank nets you about 300 liters or so of soda water. where your only recurring costs are for the carbon dioxide. To refill my carbon dioxide tank, I simply buy five pounds of dry ice at the local grocery store, and I fill the CO2 tank by unthreading the valve and weighing out the five pounds of dry ice into the empty tank, although there are food-grade carbonation outfits that will refill your CO2 tanks for you just as easily. You can even swap them out at welding shops, although welding shops generally don't promise to use food grade CO2.See my photos attached where all I needed to do to replace my kitchen name-brand soda machine was hook the red five-foot-long food-grade vinyl hose to the output of my CGA320 CO2 regulator and to put a twist clamp on each end of that red hose, and with the stainless steel carbonation valve on any size soda bottle, it's instant soda time! The hose being five feet long allows me to shake the bottle without disturbing the CO2 tank, and having the extra o-rings helps when they wear out, which they will.Liquid and Gas Ball Lock CompatibleOverall Length - 2.5"Barb Length - 7/8"Barb OD - 1/4"Barb ID - 3/16"28mm PCO 1881 PET Threads (Plastic Closure Only, Polyethylene Terephthalate plastic)To carbonate water, all you do is fill the empty PET soda bottle with water to the curve about 1/8th from the top (because you want a carbon dioxide reservoir) and then you screw on the stainless steel carbonation cap which at this point is just a bottle cap. Then you cool the bottle and liquid in the refrigerator (because carbon dioxide dissolves better in colder water than in warmer water).I like to flavor the water with a pinch of either magnesium citrate or citric acid powder, for a barely perceptible tangy flavor, but the flavoring it up to your tastes. You can carbonate juices, but sugary things tend to foam a lot. When you're ready to carbonate the cold liquid, you press on the center pin of the carbonation valve and squeeze the bottle (to let out all the air trapped inside the soda bottle). Then you open the valve on the carbon dioxide tank and set the pressure to about 30psi to 60psi (to your liking) and you place the ball lock onto the carbonation cap which pressurizes the crown inside the soda bottle that you left for the gas.Since that area is now 100% carbon dioxide, the partial pressure of the CO2 gas will be 100% (which is why you evacuated all the air initially). At this point you shake the bottle with the five feet of hose connected (because surface contact is critical for carbon dioxide to dissolve in the water). There is one flaw which is typical of these carbonation valves, is sometimes the pressure inside makes the cap sit on so tightly that you need a wrench to get it off. But that's why you have the pressure-release valve, which I press down using a handmade tool I made out of a river rock and a piece of a bicycle tire tube (see the photos attached for details). Once you release the pressure, you can open the cap to pour the liquid out. You can even use this method to re-pressurize soda that went flat. Just slowly swish the old soda instead of vigorously shaking it, as it will foam if you shake it too much.Overall, this is a nice kit for getting anyone set up for making soda at home. For more information, please see the included detailed photos. In explaining all of this, I hope this review helps you make a more informed decision.
