Melting Furnace

Melting Furnace

Simond Store presents you with a high-level performance propane melting furnace that makes your metal melting and smelting processes hassle-free and helps you achieve excellent results. Generally, casting is used to make complex shapes that would be difficult or uneconomical by other methods and have been widely applied to sculpture (especially in bronze), jewelry in precious metals, and weapons and tools. This propane furnace is efficient and effective for melting aluminum, copper, brass, bronze, gold, silver, iron, and many others.

Melting Furnace

Fine-Tuned Burner

A forge burner with a powerful mechanism gives out the high-intensity blue flame to quickly reach the optimum forging temperature with low fuel consumption. It reduces fuel wastage and increases efficiency by retrieving non-combustible/unused fuel and ensures clean and complete combustion of the fuel.

It was missing the bolts that held the burner into the forge. Otherwise everything was as expected. If you’re knew to this, you need to know it takes some prep. You can’t use it the same day you assemble it.

The furnace did a nice job keeping heat in… took 10 minutes to start melting 5 kg of copper. Feet bent a little bit after use… not a big deal. Much better than my old coffee can and plaster of Paris sand mix I have used in the past. But I had to use my own Venturi burner. The burner and regulator setup was not great. Difficult to set in the propane tank and leaked gas. Will have to modify the the burner set up.

Very good quality, the only con I can think of is I made the mistake thinking it was 5lb instead of 5kg. But that was my own fault for not reading!Get this forge first, then size your tools, it's a bit smaller than you'll realize at first and regular sized tools will be a stretch to use, but still usable!

If you have never melted and cast in metals, you are missing out on a lot of fun. This is my first one, and I was up and running in just a few minutes. I have melted copper, brass and aluminum so far and it all melts pretty quick and it is very easy to use. It comes with a nice regulator. Keep in mind, it does not come with Tongs or a crucible, so you may want to order these items at the same time so it all arrives together. It seems pretty safe as long as you observe all precautions. I LOVE IT!!

I made a few modifications to make it a little easier for my disabilities. I welded a hardened steel break rotor to the feet then I measured my three fire bricks at 7 1/2”. So with the feet hanging over the edge of the rotor, I welded 1/2” rebar to the feet and the rotor going straightish down. Then using 4 more pieces of 1/2” rebar cut at 7 1/2” to kinda square it up. My first attempt at a welding project and I will make a better squared and level base fore my next furnace. As for the furnace it’s self it is Amazingly easy to use. Do not push the limits and try melting steel. It can but you will destroy your crucible after you get it melted. I probably didn’t have the right kind of crucible either. But yeah, let the crucible get red hot and you will be melting cans in seconds. Melts copper in no time at all too. I believe the fire brick that comes with its is garbage. It broke in the middle of the preheat process. So cut and shaped one of my firebricks(very roughly) but it works wonderfully and only $1.62 a brick at Home Depot. 100% recommend this for beginners!!!!
