This is the serious watercolor set that we'd been looking for for our budding young artist, who's beyond crayons and cheap dollar store watercolors. There's a small coupon right now, not much, but even without that, this set is worth paying the $15 MSRP. These paints are of much higher quality, and the color variety (even metallic shades!) is far better than the plain black, yellow, blue, etc., that cheap sets are limited to. Then there are the serious brushes, even a couple of waterbrushes, for someone serious who isn't just spreading around little bits of diluted colored water.

I love this paint set. I love the different varieties of colors and metallics, fluorescent colors, etc. I think it has a good price point. What I really like about it is the paper strips that came with it. I really wish I knew what kind of paper it is, as it is some of the best I have ever used. Of course, I'm not a professional, but I have tried several kinds of watercolor papers. This was a pleasant surprise. I like the fact these colors didn't leave a chalky finish once dried as well.

The watercolor set came promptly and is just what I wanted. It is a good quality at a very good price. Im just beginning to fill in the color chart and the paints are an array of beautiful colors. I would definitely recommend. Since I am just starting to use it and am new to the watercolor medium I reserved the 5th star.

This is a great set for those just starting out with water colors. It comes in a metal tin and contains decent lining brushes, a water coloring pen and a few other items that store neatly in the included silk bag making it easy to take the set with you. I like that the it comes with a wide variety of colors. The row contains metallic which are fun to add a little sparkle to your drawing. Overall this is a great set to learn with and for the price point is very good for what you get in this set.

Want to know how you deal with old wall-hangings or embroidery that's been sun-faded over the years? Watercolors. (I am not making this up; it's how my grandmother kept her framed embroidery work looking nice despite the bright Arizona sun.) Part of the reason is watercolors aren't a permanent dye; if you ever go for it and try washing any embroidery, a good old-thing detergent (ie Woolite) will wash out the watercolors, too. What is important with watercolors is that you have a wide enough range of colors, enough variations that you can get reasonably close to the colors you're trying to restore. This set covers the gamut, so I'm pretty confident it'll do me fine for touch-ups on my half-dozen pieces. I did ding it one star, however, for the incomplete color pots. The first four columns (from left) are all filled to the brim, but the shorter column at far right, the pots were filled from half-full to maybe three-quarter full. I can't think of a reason those wouldn't also be full pots. Other than that, it's an excellent set for an astonishingly good price.
