Product Description

Creeping Thyme
Creeping thyme is a tough, easy care ground cover that thrives in most areas, such as between stepping stones, in rock crevices, and along the edges of garden beds. Its dense mat formation creates a lush carpet effect that can transform your garden into a flower ocean.
When to Plant
The recommended time for indoor seed starting is 6-8 weeks before the last frost date. This timing ensures that your plants are ready to thrive once the weather warms up. For direct sowing outdoors, the best time is after the last frost date when soil temperatures are optimal. The ideal soil temperature for planting is 59°F to 68°F.
Where to Plant
Creeping thyme thrives in full sun, requiring at least 6 hours of direct daily sunlight. Select a sloping site with full sun exposure and loose, well-drained soil. Sandy or rocky soils with a pH of 6.5–7.5 provide optimal growing conditions.
How to Plant
Creeping thyme germinates within 2-8 weeks. Sow seeds 1/16 inch deep with 6-8 inch spacing. Lightly press seeds into the growing medium and cover with a thin layer of soil. For container gardening, select pots with drainage holes to prevent waterlogging.
Care After Plant
Ground-planted creeping thyme or plants kept at stable, moderate temperatures typically require watering only every 10 days. In contrast, potted thyme exposed to intense outdoor heat needs daily watering. Maintain consistently moist (but not waterlogged) roots. This species thrives in poor soils due to its exceptional adaptability.
