I needed extra clearance when using my utility rack on my Honda element. I used to scrape coming out of most driveways and roads with large dips. I bought this and no longer am I scraping up my rack on the road. This riser is solid and I love the build in anti-rattle screw. Worked great!

Clarification: The step adapter, 2" pipe vise, and 4" bench vise are only viewed as potential accessories to the base unit. Yes, I added & revised to an existing step I've had for years to make this piece. To date:* I've hand threaded 2" GRC (rigid conduit) and assembled navigation lighting for bridges with the pipe vise.*The 4" vise is used to hold flat stock and other items for cut, assy/demo, and minor shaping. For me, this adapter is a HUGE advantage. I can do my work wherever I drive without a tri stand and separate vise. Cardboard makes the tailgate a work table, tools stay packed. In summary, you may not do what I have with this adapter, but it is VERY STOUT. The bolt cinches hold other adapters tight. The hole patterns are correct and allow multiple positions on the lower. The upper is NOT FOR TOWING.

Great value, love the two side bolts, that reduce play between the hitch and the attachment

My hitch is aftermarket so it was designed to go around the number cover, which makes it lower. When I use my bike carrier the wheels of my bikes are very close to the ground. This riser/extender solves the issue and added bonus (extended), I’m not able to open my tail gate with the bike on with help tilting the handle bar away a little. Not 5 stars because there is a small play when attached to the hitched, but then again I haven’t tried any that is 100% solidly attached.

I tow a vehicle behind the RV and needed a mobility Scooter carrier as well. This did the trick. Happy with the value and workmanship.

It's a thick piece of metal shaped the way I needed it for holding a Kuat Rack on the back of my 04 Jeep Liberty. The gate swings out and the rack was too high straight to the hitch. Folded up was against the spare tire. This piece fixed my issues. So both the extension and drop were perfect.Added bonus are the snugging bolts on the sides of both holes. eliminates the need for a anti rattle clamp or shims.I couldn't find simply a drop receiver. Now I have an extra port to figure out what to do with later, LOL.No matter the money Its a great piece.

I'm surprised for all the less than 5 star reviews. Every one of them except one (said it wasn't very sturdy made) was their own fault for not measuring their own hitch clearance, bike rack tongues etc. and looking at the description and the diagram with measurements on it to verify that it would fit BEFORE buying it and then giving it less stars because you had to modify it or drill holes in your bike rack to make it fit. This is not a vehicle specific item that is guaranteed to fit your 77 skywagon with a trailer and a bike rack on it. It's a dual extension and it gives the specific dimensions in the diagram. Oh well...If it's not sturdy, I don't know what sturdy is. This thing is made like a tank, very solidly made, welds are fantastic and clean, and holes are smooth with no jagged edges or barbs hanging on it anywhere. I bought it to cut it in pieces, drill some holes and retrofit it to my ATV so I could use a receiver hitch instead of only having a ball mounted on the rear of the ATV. I removed the ball mount and used the cut, smaller piece of this hitch extender to mount on my bike. It is perfect for what I needed and is mated up nicely and looks factory on my Kodiak. It was inexpensive, free shipping and got here in one day which is more than I could ask for. I'm seriously happy with it.Just check your measurements before you buy and make sure it will work for you, or expect to modify it when you get it.
