I still want to trust OE parts, Now days even that has changed. This part looked and fit properly, worked out of the Box. So far so good.

Works like it should, no more wondering if I’m in the right gear. Fixed all issues with illumination of gear display and gear jurk and bangs.

The prnl switch had gone out on my 02 GMC sierra 2500HD and my shift lever was not recognizing what gear it should be in. Installation was fairly simple with basic hand tools and took around 15 minutes or so. Completely fixed my problem and has been working flawlessly since installation.

The NSBU is relatively easy to install. The hardest part is removing the connectors that are secured inside by what looks like non-hardening substance that helps protect the metal connectors from moisture which makes sense. If you apply steady slow but forceful pulling it will slowly slip off. Don't use a screw driver or equivalent to chisel it off. The substance inside is very flexible and the banging effect will cause you to damage the connectors because the connector bounces out then back in. That is why a strong steady and slow tug on the plug gets the job done believe it or not. This action stretches the substance and does not allow it to flex back and will give way. Just some advice. The product provides some better water management features that the original was missing. The non-critical trouble codes were eliminated once I replace this.

It started when I lost my gear notification light. I could see the PNRD321 however, I couldn't see which one I actually shifted in. Then my door locks stopped unlocking when I put transmission in park. Then my service engine light came on with codes PO708 and PO700. I changed the NSBU, cleared the codes, and my problem was solved! My local auto parts store (not even NAPA:) wanted over double the cost here and the Amazon Prime 1 day shipping (Amazon actually took 2) is hard deal to beat. If you're having issues, change your NSBU now and save yourself the headache.

Great price...considerable amount of savings.Shipping was a bit slow. I've bought a considerable amount through amazon...this is by far the slowest shipping.Symptoms:First issue was hard shifting into 2nd. Then over time...in the middle of a 3hr trip I noticed a funny shift. Kept going and noticed I was stuck in a high gear as I approached traffic during rush hour. Needless to say my truck was in no hurry since I couldn't get it into 1st. About a week later the symptons kept showing and then finally got the "Range Shift Inhibitor" message along with TCM codes and some hard shifting (finally found some time to get my codes read at autozone). Would get stuck in 3rd gear or 4th -a high gear- and no reverse. Turning off the vehicle and restarting it...sometimes would work but would eventually shift itself into a high gear and stay. Also known as "limp mode" I believe. I'm no expert...just read the forums in hopes to save a few $$.Savings:Retail charges $180+, dealer $300 in some cases. Dealer would probably charge 1 hr to install...you can see the savings already.Install:The part shouldn't take more than the 30min or so...maybe an hour like in my case (see below). From the video, I believe the silver clip is only an aligning tool to make sure the shaft is in neutral. It didn't remain on the install. I used the black cover as I think thats a weather guard. Two bolts and One nut to unscrew with a 3/8" dirve ratchet. 13mm on the front & back. 15mm nut in the middle.Block off at least one tire to prevent it from rolling and put the truck in neutral then follow the steps on youtube. Pretty easy install. My experience with the install:Having said that...my experience was that it did not work as soon as I installed it. Even after turning the truck on/off. I read a review after sifting through all the "how to" forums there was something about the ground wire on the TCM. No idea what it is other than a computer for the transmission and it throws codes. All I did was find the location of the TCM/ECM on the radiator shroud. Unbolted it using a 10mm socket. Unplugged both connectiions and then blew on the conections like you used to do for those old nintendo games. Replugged them back in...started the truck and everything works.Still a bit mysterious to me as to why that worked...(much like why it worked on the nintendo games). Perhaps the computer reset itself? No idea, but it does work now as I took it for a test drive. Very happy that it worked and didn't spend $$$ on a part that didn't need replacing and also avoided labor costs not to mention marked up part prices.Hope this helps someone.

my trans was showing numerous codes on my allison trans...i went onto the chevrolet forum and alot of people would have went to a trans shop and got ripped off it was going into limp mode and staying in 3rd gear the shift light was blinking and not lighting up in park and banging going into reverse sometimes not going at all before spending thousands of dollars most deffinatly by this part from amazon its a factory replacement part and the stock gm is about 300.00 and its not hard to replace ..if you take it to a shop it should not take 1 hour to replace i had it out and the new one in ....in less than 30 minutes .....thanks amazon.....
