1.HandOrientation:Left Hand Throw

About this item

  • 33.5" Praying Mantis pattern
  • Spiral lock web
  • Open back w/ Clasp Grasp wrist system
  • Deep pocket

33.5" circumference pattern, Spiral-Lock web, open back, deep pocket designed for the serious catcher. With new patent pending "Stress Wedge" technology, located between the index finger and thumb, the Praying Mantis offers shock absorbing protection for the hand against injury and sting when receiving the ball. The Praying Mantis also offers two additional "Finger Hammocks" allowing the fingers to be firmly positioned and more secure in the glove. Additional features include the "Double-sided Slim Padding" allowing for increased pocket size and easier ball retention. Uniquely designed shape allows the throwing hand easier access into the pocket, resulting in a quicker glove to hand transfer and faster times to second base. The Praying Mantis also features a "Double Flexhinge" which makes the glove snap closed on contact.

I have now ordered a ‘LEFT HAND THROW” glove no less than FOUR time. They are very confused as to what LEFT vs RIGHT hand ‘throw’ means, they even have the wrong product pictured (I have reported this a few times and it has yet to be corrected). If it is listed as “left hand throw” it means the glove actually fits the RIGHT hand so you can THROW WITH THE LEFT HAND. Ergo, ‘Left hand throw” glove. Please, for the love of god, please, I implore you, PLEASE send me a glove that fits the right hand, which is technically called ‘LEFT HAND THROW’ glove. Hopefully the fourth time is a charm...there aren’t a whole lot of options for lefties out there...

Overall, I would say this glove is great! I bought it to use in a competitive Men's league where guys are throwing between 75-85 mph. When the glove arrived, it was pretty stiff. However, after a couple of rounds of catch and a few hits with the glove mallet, it broke in nicely. The only draw back, which is why I rated in four stars, is the different feel it has on your hand. Akadema had added a wedge of padding between the thumb and the index finger. This wedge works great for lessening the impact from miss-caught balls, but it does take some getting used to if you are used to traditional fitting gloves.I would say this is competable quality to gloves in the $200-$250 price range, fantastic value for a great glove! Please don't judge this glove by the photos on amazon. The glove is significantly better looking than what the pictures lead on. Enjoy the glove, and the wonderful game of baseball.

Every adult who sees this glove has the same response. "Wow! That is a really nice glove!" When I ask how much they think it costs, the response has been $200, $250 or $200+.The quality is very evident. It it is a very sharp looking mitt. The photos on Amazon don't do the glove justice. Akadema should provide different photography. As others state this glove will take some work to break in, but I have used the hot glove treatment foam on it twice and it is already a lot softer. Probably do that one more time along with a glove mallet.I am positive this glove will last for years. In terms of size; this glove is for my just about to turn 12 son. I can get my hand into whith a bit of effort. But if you are an adult or high schooler with large hands you probably want one of their other models

This is a perfect example of a great glove at a fair price. Top quality leather, yet it broke in very quickly. The design and padding is excellent. I don't feel a thing when my son rips a fastball into it. Feels great on my hand and it did not break the bank.... mission accomplished. I highly recommend this glove.

Ex-professional ball player, playing in a men's league, but unfortunately left handed. This glove is super soft, easy to break in, but with the softness comes a lack of durability. I play with some ex-college guys still being clocked in the mid 80s, and after 5 games I could tell this glove wouldn't last the whole season. So far I've caught about ten games and the glove is holding up just okay. It is still a good glove that is very soft and comfortable; just not as durable as the pro-preferred's and heart of the hide's that I'm used to. Definitely worth how little you pay though. In closing, I should have known with the ProSoft name that it would be a little TOO soft.

The glove pocket was way too loose and soft...laces came undone fast. Glove after a week was feeling too soft. I returned the item. Will get a non broken in mitt to break in with better leather...I still Love Akadema but will go with Torrino series like my sons infielder glove which he loves

My 13-year-old son loves this mitt. It's easy to break in, has excellent padding and an awesome pocket design. Will definitely try other Akadema products due to the quality and performance of this mitt.

There is a reason coaches love this outstanding glove - excellent durability, game ready out of the box. The praying mantis pocket might be the best designed pocket I have ever seen and used. It is almost impossible to drop a ball with this glove. Dual layer padding in the palm along with finger banana pockets make this glove extremely comfortable to wear. My 12 year-old son desperately wants to use it but I won't give it up, lol.
