In case you didn't notice, *you* tie this bow tie—that's what "self-tied" means, as opposed to "pre-tied". But there are good videos that show you how to do that, so don't let that hold you back (just like with regular neckties). Self-tie bow ties do have a certain character, so putting in the practice/effort can lend you some charm.I think I also have to say that some of the color contrasts available are more, um, aesthetically striking than pleasing, so get help choosing if that's not clear to you.I was looking for something more unusual when I chose the coral orange and burgundy version, and I'm very happy with it. The burgundy is more of a dark rust—or maybe halfway between rust and burgundy.The almost metallic sheen of the embroidered flowers is a nice contrast with the variable sheen of the background. This fabric has differences in texture that embody some fanciness.The price of around $15 is quite reasonable for a polyester fabric that looks this nice.
