As the diameter decreases, the resistance increases. 3.0-Inch has 40-Percent more resistance than 4.5-Inch while 2.25-Inch has 90-Percent more resistance than 4.5-Inch.

Bought my Kreitler rollers in 93, added the Head Wind a few years back (cannot recall - 10-15?). They work as well now as they did then. I have a Wahoo but find myself going back to Kreitlers from time to time. Great product, long lasting.

When shopping for rollers, especially for the first time, you’ll soon realized there’s no middle ground between quality and cost.I’m happy with the roller, knowing it will last for many winters, but still feel it is somewhat over priced.

Oh yeah...this is it. Just what I was looking for. My friends poke fun of me on how I like to buy the good stuff just once.

So smooth. Makes riding indoors fun. Way less boring than a trainer or stationary. Almost as good as riding outside.I love my rollers. I hate riding a trainer. It gets so boring so fast. I never seem able to keep my heart rate up on a trainer because I get so bored that I just end up watching the movie I am watching while barely spinning my legs. With the Kreitler rollers it is just like riding, because I am riding. It makes me want to go all out, just like I do outside. They are great for interval training as well. I ride them every day when I can't get outside due to the weather. With the Killer Headwind Fan you can vary the resistance from none so you can get a great super high cadence spin without exploding your heart up to a real leg work out as hard or harder than anything you will encounter outside. As well I noticed that someone wrote a review that said something to the affect that the rollers weren't balanced. If that is true I would say that they were defective and should be returned. Mine are perfect. I have several friends with the same rollers. They are perfect too. In reality I would say that it is much more likely that the guy with 'Unbalanced rollers' really has a wheel with a flat spot, cheap tires that aren't balanced, or an unsmooth pedal stroke causing his belief that the rollers aren't balanced. They are so smooth, quiet, and perfectly balanced. I love them.

Overall out of the different models of rollers I have tried these are the best. I have never been a fan of the magnetic or fluid trainers. This with the fan is a realistic road feel and it improves your riding stability at the same time. The fan is awesome as it blows a good wind at you while riding (I try to maintain an average pace of 32-34km/h) which helps with cooling me down. I purchased the 4.5" alloy rollers as I also am using 2 flywheels (right and left) so I did not want it too difficult in conjunction with the headwind fan. I have the fan set at 1/4 open which combined with the two flywheels provides a good solid workout at my average pace of 32-34km/h with the approximate wattage of 350 (according to the Kreitler chart). I have not purchased or used the fork stand, I prefer to actually ride on the rollers as though I was out on the road when I am unable to actually ride outdoors due to weather. Not a unique problem to Kreitler's but if you happen to have your wheel touch the bands while riding, the bands 9 times out of 10 will pop off, requiring you to stop the rollers from spinning and put the band back on in order to continue. The only bands I have not had pop off when hit with the tire are the bands for the flywheels, but those bands are also at a higher tension and go off the back, whereas the main band from rear to front can get hit with the front tire. Also due to the upwards angle of the band to the headwind fan the front tire can also knock that band off when hit. Most of the time if you are hitting the band you are going to come off the rollers anyways however I have successfully saved it several times and stayed on only to have a band come off. As I said though this is not a unique problem to Kreitler, any rollers with the bands will suffer the same.

Opting for the larger rollers + headwind fan makes it easy to come up with as light or as heavy resistance as required - the perfect combo for all of your workouts from recovery right up to high intensity.

for the price I paid I expected more from the highly rated Kreitlers. First the drums are not perfectly balanced and if your on a wood floor in a house with a basement or on a second floor they create a lot of noise. So I moved them to the basement on the concrete floor and that helped mute the constant chug chug chug from the unbalanced drums. I haven't used the fan yet because I don't need the extra resistance yet. Everything else works as should. If I had to do it all over again I would get the Nashbar rollers at 1/4 of the price.
