This part (the black or gray one in the photos) fits a valve stem with splines (or ridges) on the end. If you need a round hole with one flat side like the tan one in the pictures you probably need part number M918021-0070A.Three stars because it is what it’s supposed to be but impossible to tell by the single product photo.

there is no flat part in the cylinder, so it won't work. there needs to be a flat edge inside so it will work.

No way to tell if this is the right part unless you know the American Standard part # that it attaches to. Need top and bottom photos in order to match the POS plastic ones that break too easily.
