I bought this in 2023 to set up new tank, unfortunately that I didn't until now. I just unbox it to make a mixing pump for my salt mix. This thing is a piece of garbage. Will not move water as rated. It's so weak, I barely feel water movement. Buyer beware!

I ordered this product to break the sirface of water in my 65 falling tank. It does a great job and moves water all the way down to the bottom of the tank. The maget does a better job than a suction cup that other products supply.

This item wasn't expensive but I have it in a 36gal tank and it is doing well for moving the water. I will definitely buy this brand again and eventually upgrade to the larger one.

My Initial Review (1-Star): I was looking for a powerhead for a 32 gal reef aquarium. I opened this one and while walking to my aquarium to install it, I noticed it is covered in algae from pre-use (so it was used long enough for algae to grow on it before getting returned -- or they just sent be one they were using?!). After taking a picture of it, I thought I'd try it out anyway, to see how well it worked. While trying to get it in place and see the effect of the water flow, the cover came off easily (3-4 times) and my fingers got nicked by the blades. After eventually getting the powerhead to stay where I wanted it, I watched for corals to move in the additional water flow. There wasn't much movement at all, certainly no "wave" was produced. I reached in to feel the flow, barely perceptible. The power of this pump is quite lower than expected. Returning this purchase tomorrow.Additional Review (3-Star): I went to remove the powerhead and decided to mess with it. I unplugged it and plugged it back in several times. Sometimes, the powerhead seemed to work -- I can see the corals swish around from more water flow. After trying several times, it seems that the powerhead is *very* random wave sequence, where there is little to no wave motion, then maybe after 20-30 seconds there is stronger current that actually moves the corals. So the waves can be very long in between, low or higher, and very random rather than a more steady stream of waves. There is no way to control the strength or frequency of the waves.

I purchased this pump to create a gentle steady current in my 29 gal tank. I planned on using it to circulate the co2 bubbles from my co2 dispenser. It is up to the task, BUT only when it runs in the proper direction. I have it hooked up to a timer which controls the lighting as well. I estimate that there is a 50/50 chance that it will start up correctly and not run in reverse. When it does run in reverse, I momentarily have to turn the timer off and then back on (sometimes it takes several attempts) in order t make it run in the proper direction. My advice is: DO NOT BUY THIS if you are going to rely on it starting each day via a timer. If you plan on leaving it on steadily then it should be OK. Other than the rotation problem the unit seems well made. THIS ENTRY IS AN UPDATE TO MY REVIEW. I have now given up relying on this pump to start correctly. 80% of the time it will run backwards. If you need a pump to start reliably with a timer, then buy another brand. This one is not going to work for you.

For the most part, it is exactly what I was hoping for. Easy to use, powerful flow, quiet and and I love the magnetic back which makes it very easy to place and move to find the optimal flow for your tank. I am using it in a 20 gal. saltwater coral frag tank and I am very pleased. I would be even happier if the directional adjustment point was more ranged, but it would be at the cost of durability, so, I understand why it is somewhat limited in its ability to say, point directly downward. As it is, it will probably last longer and stay truer to its adjustment points longer with it's current design. Not complaining, just expressing my own wishful thinking. Hard to find effective blowers that have the range that I would like to see without them being less durable long term. I feel like this will last a good long while, and for the price range, I am very pleased with it. I plan to order another.

Does exactly as advertised. Simple to set up and a few nice features to go along with it. The front guard is removeable for easier cleaning than some of the the high dollar powerheads. Also had a slideshield to help control the flow somewhat that is basic and simple to operate.Water circulation in any tank is paramount for distribution of food and filtration. You don't want an underwater tornado but you do want to make sure this is an even dispersion of water flow throughout your tank. I would recommend this particular powerhead for up to a 55 gallon tank. Anything bigger and you'll definitely want something with a higher GPH turnover rate but for 55 gallon and under it's perfect. I have a 36 gallon bowfront Saltwater/Reef and this is perfect! Also love the magnet attachment the most! The suction cup design on some other powerheads is just a time gamble. As soon as you start getting ANY algae growth on your sides it'll virtually eliminate the suction cups ability to stay attached. Especially if it's a hard type calciferous algae. These usually last 1-3 years with consistent use so there is little to no reason to invest in a high dollar powerhead knowing it's only going to last the same as a cheaper model. It does exactly the same thing, turns over the water!
