From looking at the photos, I never guessed that the chain pliers (or whatever they are called) was so small. Regardless, it should work fine. It is made of metal and the spring is strong, has a lock on it to keep it from opening when not in use. The master links are so convenient, just in case of a chain break while riding. There is a retainer included, as well, for holding the chain in place when connecting the end with the master link during a repair.
