Me and my wife are really putting a lot of miles on our newly purchased bikes. I wanted to have all the tools in my rear cargo basket in case something does happen. This set is handy and packed in a small zip lock bag. I see this as more of a "Just in case" type of toolset. Something one would carry to get back home; or in our case, back to our vehicle.Are they durable? Enough to get you back home. Would I use it in a professional setting, no. This is strictly for those who are trying to maintain their bikes after a small flat trail, not any more than that.

I was salvaging an old bike and needed to remove and repair the chain (if possible). I always wanted/needed a chain break tool, and when this became available, I immediately ordered it.When the item arrived, I knew instantly that there was going to be a problem, and it took less than a minute for the problem to materialize. I find it hard to believe that a pressed-on plastic handle was used in a very high torque application. It broke off almost immediately. I have been a mechanic for over 50 years, so I already had a plan for this. I ground the ends flat and finished the job using vice grips. I will repair the tool later with a different method.I will admit this: in the tools defense, I was using it in the worst possible scenario: an old, rusted chain. However, I had used the world's best penetrating oil days in advance and had already loosened the pin with a punch and hammer.After the handle broke off (almost instantly), the alternate method did in fact remove the pin rather quickly.I had been trying to position the tool with the chain in place and the pin kept moving around. I did not realize at first that the pin was loose and needed to be tightened. After tightening the pin, the job went (semi) smoothly. I have no idea why the pin was left loose. The pin requires a 6MM socket to tighten or remove.I note that an extra pin is provided in the tool handle. Nice.I was rather surprised that the pin did not bend, but it held up fine.Those problems aside, this tool will work satisfactorily in light duty conditions, probably. The old rusty chain I was trying to remove was probably worst-case scenario.I appreciate the quick release links; I will be using them.The rest of the kit seems OK; the pliers work fine.If the chain break tool had a pressed-on metal handle that would improve this kit significantly.
