For the price, this is a very good product. My only complaint is related to the chain breaking tool where both screws should be much longer. Do you really have to save a few cents on material? You frequently have to bottom out the screws to get a somewhat working but unnecessarily weaker grip. A longer adjustment screw and pin screw would make this tool amazing.

I have several bicycles, and do all regular maintenance and repairs myself. For the last 50 years I’ve used a small chain breaker that was intended to be carried with a tool kit on the bike. It works, but isn’t the most comfortable to use. When I saw this kit, I decided I deserved a better tool for home use.The chain breaker is easy to use. The chain hook is a nice thing to have, too, though lots of people just make them from a piece of wire. Most of my chains have master links now, so the master link pliers are great to have as well; using these makes working with master links SO much easier. The chain wear gauge is not too useful for me. I have mostly internal gear hub bikes; the chains for these are not expensive. So, rather than spend a lot of effort cleaning them, I just replace them frequently. My experience with other chain wear (or ‘stretch’) gauges is that, by the time they tell you the chain is worn, you’re already experiencing symptoms like rough running or chain drop.Overall, this set is very usable for a home repair shop, and you get a lot for your money.

Very strong tools that feel good in the hand and look like they will last for many years.

This is probably the best chain breaker I've owned. The very good handles make it quite effortless to use. The quick link pliers are also good. Definitely the biggest ones I've used, which gives you more leverage on the tighter quick links like the Shimano ones. The only knock I would have is with the measurement tool. It comes in two different sizes, but there are no indications of what either size is for or what the varying insert depths mean. A bit of explanation would be helpful, although it is easy enough to find the info you need on the internet. Given their size, these probably aren't tools you would take on a ride, but they make for a nice set of shop tools at a really good price.

This kit did exactly what I needed it to. I used it to swap out the chain on my kid’s little 50cc dirt bike, and it made the job quick and easy. Everything in the set feels solid and works well, the chain breaker especially came in handy and worked without a hitch. It includes all the tools you’d need for basic chain maintenance or replacement. There was one piece in the set that I couldn’t figure out the purpose of, but it wasn’t necessary for the job I was doing, so no big deal.If you need to work on a bike chain and want a full set that makes the process simple, this one won’t let you down.

This is a great toolset, and the tools feel to be of decent quality. Lemme tell you if you’re looking for a set of tools like these, get this set or a set like it for sure! The chain tool to measure stretch is always good to have, and I was happy to see that my chain checks out as still good. The little tool with hooked ends is used to add a little slack in your chain so you can undo the master link if you have one, or press out a rivet so you can break the chain to replace or resize without the chain instantly coming off the bike. The master link plies could use a little more grips on them, but they’re not bad at all and par for the course here. They were able to undo and redo my master link with no problems! Finally the chain tool itself is probably one of the nicer ones I have used. The pin to press out the rivet is replaceable and includes two spares that fit in the handle, and you just unscrew the lower tip of the grip (that also has a small hex in case it gets stuck) to find the two replacement pins and the chain holder tool. The chain part of the tool itself is adjustable with the rear of the tool where the pin will get pushed into by screwing it in or unscrewing it. I was able to perfectly support my chain to press out a rivet using this tool without any damage to my chain. With my previous tool this would’ve bent the chain, but not with this tool!

Having a master/connector link is good - but unhooking and re-hooking is going to be difficult without specialty tools. I know, I've done it enough times. The link pliers save much time, effort and frustration. It's easier to get the master link reseated without tools than to disconnect it; but the pliers work both ways, making that process effortless, too. There's a hook sored in the handle of the chain breaker. Use that while putting the master link back on. Again, can be done without it, but easier with. The handles are very comfortable. It's a quality tool. It's almost too bad that I won't have need to use it more often (though I'll be willing to help out more people, knowing it's not as big a hassle as before. The same can be said of the chain breaker. My old one did the job - but not nearly as well or as effortlessly. There's a knob you turn to hold the link before you drive the pin. It's hollow; so, it catches the pin (you might need it later). Comfortable. Adjustable. Good leverage to drive stubborn pins - and you'll be less likely to damage the chain. The chain wear gauge IS something you can and should use more often. Chains wear internally, and that causes them to lengthen. At some point the links won't mesh on the cogs. Checking a couple of time a season. is probably enough. Just takes a minute. An easy five stars for this set.
