its pretty good but an angle grinder would make short work of it but the same thing can be said for a top end kryptonite lock i beleive the record is 2mins.so save your money this will do the job nicely under most cercumstances.this is light weight easy to attach to the bike and is mid range security, these days its not about how secure your lock is its about where you park it up and how long you park it up.

Very nice lock mechanism. It originally rattled a bit when on the bike. I fixed this by putting a piece of black electrical tape on each side of each link. That adds enough thickness so that the lock wedges into the mounting bracket and doesn’t rattle.I like the way it folds and it seems quite secure even though it’s lightweight— much lighter than a u lock.

I bought this lock for my son for his new bike to be used on a college campus. During the Coronavirus shut down he had his bike locked on campus. Someone unsuccessfully tried to break it by a brute force technique with the lock. The great news was they were unsuccessful. Unfortunately, they broke off metal in the key portion and prevented us from opening it. I contacted Via Velo's service department and they sent a new lock free of charge right away. Great lock and great service.

This is not the most obvious design, nor the lightest of lighter-weight bike locks; but it works well, it is compact and not obtrusive, it is quite robust and locks and unlocks reasonably easily.

This lock holder damaged the bike frame!!!Attached the lock holder with the screws provided, then began to tighten the lock holder screws, while doing so it bent very slightly then started to scrap the paint off the bike, unscrewing the holder also scraped more paint off. This was attached to a 24" boys bike, so buyer beware if you own a 24" or larger be prepared for damage to your bike as well.Attached a picture showing how the frame is now damaged and will require some serious effort to repair the frame. -- IE: (sanding the bike on both sides until it's feathered very fine, taping off the areas not to be repainted, then spray painting the affected area, sanding, then applying a clear coat finish.) Hopefully the noticeable damage will no longer be visible. You must repaint the damaged areas prevent any rusting from occurring, This is not what I expected to occur when attaching a lock holder! This is a serious design flaw and Amazon ought to remove this product from its consumer offering preventing this from happening to anyone else.

Really like this. Reassuringly heavy, light enough and compact enough to go unnoticed in its frame or in my backback for social days out on the bike. Not quite light enough to go in my back pocket - but that’s not why I bought it, as I’d never dream of going for a ride and spending long enough time away from the bike in my Lycra. For its purpose: perfect. So much so I bought another for my wife.

Had the lock for a few months now. What I like about it, is it can easily be extended out and folded back in. Very compact and light. Seems durable. I'm sure any lock can be picked or cut, with time and dedication.... but I feel as if the average bike theft wouldn't have a easy time getting through. Only problem I have is with the design of the storage unit/case. There's a plastic piece that pops on the front, to strap down and secure the lock. It doesn't snuggly stay in. Mine popped out on the 2nd ride... never to be found. Needs to be more secure. Wish I could exchange for another or return all together, but its passed the window. It's pretty important piece, because it keeps the lock in the case. Other than that.... excellent lock.

The lock itself seems ok. The mounting system to attach to the bike came without instructions and was not intuitive to install at all. After two emails I finally got some photos showing how to install it. You need a really small screwdriver to make it work. We’ll see if the mount holds up. The only place to fit it on my Cannondale is the center post replacing my water bottle.

Good mounting location - Mounting on the seat tube is the best location for road bikes. I don't want to sacrifice one bottle cage holder (I usually need 2 bottles for long rides), nor the saddle bag on the seat tube. The clamp is very strong and doesn't scratch the frame. For sure, don't rely on zip ties for mounting, because the weight of the lock will make it slide around scratching the bike's paint.Good compromise in security - the metal of the folding lock isn't as tough to cut as a decent chain, but it will need at least a 2-foot long bolt cutter, which is hard for the thieves to hide in populated areas. Stay away from cord locks because a small 8-inch cable cutter can clip it in one second.Short length - I wish it were a bit longer. At nearly 25" in length, I can tie my bike to most bike racks, but not around trees nor big posts. I can tie 2 bikes together, but only their tires without frames.Convenience - I hate carrying the chain around. It rattles and bangs on my frame and is exactly 3 times heavier. The folding lock is 1 lb and 2 oz. People spend hundreds of dollars more to get a bike that's 2 to 3 lbs lighter.
