Worked great for a French door I built and installed for my master bathroom. I was easily able to mortise and chisel out the wood to place the latches on both sides of my door. The lock works well, but isn’t overly clunky which is good for my purposes. It looks and works great.

This is a well-made product, and I definitely recommend it.The rod has about 1.5” of movement, meaning you’ll need to leave about that much space at the bottom for the hole, and that’s how much steel will be holding the door in place when engaged. I would’ve liked to have more, but that would require a deeper-set design, and that’s just not possible for most people. As it is, you’ll need to create a mortise for the mechanism about 1” deep, 3/4” wide, and 7” long.They say you can adjust the rod length, and this is somewhat true, but all that really entails is not screwing it in all the way. And like any bolt, partially screwing it in place leaves you with a loose connection. You can apply loctite or epoxy to keep it in place, but I would argue that none of this is necessary as long as you create your mortise in the correct spot. After all, adding length to the rod doesn’t mean you get more at the bottom - the arc of extension will remain unchanged.But it does help to be able to fine tune the length a little bit if your mortise isn’t perfect.I probably didn’t use the correct terms for what I tried to explain, and it’s hard without pointing to images as a reference, but the key takeaway here is that this is a solid product, and if you know what you’re doing you’ll probably be happy with this purchase.
