The only thing that would make these better is to be lockable. But these are great. High quality metal for longevity. Smooth action. I love how these solve the problem of boat hatches bouncing open because someone forgot to turn the latch shut.

I ordered these silver mirror polished handles (2) for my fishing boat hatches and they work well. I like that they provide two different backplates to accommodate varying thicknesses. I needed to add a tiny bit of grease in order to make the latch mechanism glide more smoothly but otherwise is a very sturdy well made handle. The silver mirror polish finish seems durable but both have a few tiny pockmarks. There were no sharp edges and they seat flush with a low profile. Please note that the handle for these 2" latches are pretty small and can only fit one finger for an adult male.

I like these cabin latches. They are made of cast alloy with what looks to be a durable paint coating. They have significant weight to them and have a quality feel. They are spring loaded latches, so you have to question their durability in a marine environment. I haven't done any long-term testing in that regard, so use that information as you see appropriate. The kits come with "true" stainless screws and strike plates - which is nice. There are two stout screws holding the latch mechanism in place (see photo) which are magnetic and likely not stainless. They may be another point of failure in a marine environment.

A good latch, the dual base plat make it a better fit for thick front. The issue I had was poor packaging, each pair I bought had some paint damge from rubbig parts in the box, the last one was bad enough to return.

Quality I'd good, but I bought to replace old ones. They fit in the original holes, but they will not reach the latch bracket to lock.
