This insert allows users to create the zero clearance, supporting the workpiece closer to blade. It offers improved control that minimizes tear out that can happen with a standard insert. It also helps reduce wood damage by making precision cuts at 90 degrees, reducing the kerf clearance to the thickness of the blade.

Nothing more than thin plastic that’s less than flat. Waste of money. I’ll never use this. Made a phenolic insert instead.
