This spring is the real mco but By the time you need this spring replaced, you might be better off giving your mower to someone you don't like. Still a good deal if you can keep the rest of your mower in good shape.

I'll never understand the delicate balance that B&S designs into how their carburetor springs do their thing. All I know is that from the parts diagram, I needed this one to restore that balance to my mower. It worked as intended.

Sadly, after the parts were installed, the mower started leaking oil. Just my luck.

I took my mower in to get looked at and the shop wanted to charge me over $100 to adjust the idle. while they were walking me through everything they said just needed to replace the spring. I went ahead order this spring, governor spring, spark plug and new air filter.The lawn mower runs like new and all in was less than $30 in parts.

The biggest challenge is determining the right part for your particular engine. The original spring was stretched out by a careless repairman, who will never touch my mower again. My mower would hardly idle and pulsed and surged terribly. I knew it was the governor because I could hold on to the governor arm and smooth out the idle. This new spring solved that problem completely. But you have to match the correct governor spring to your engine (length and spring rate) which requires a little on line research.

This was exactly what I needed to make my 5 year old push mower run like new, along with the other spring #691859. My mower was doing this weird thing where the motor speed fluctuated constantly while mowing, and I realized that the little spring was missing and this one was stretched out. Replaced them both and it runs great now.
