Mower wasn't starting and found solenoid was the issue. Once this was installed the mower started right up!

Perfect fit! Thank goodness for YouTube. Easily diagnosed my riding mower issue and was able to make the repair myself. Saved over $200 by installing this part myself.

Easy install and works fine. Bought a cheaper knockoff and it only lasted a week. This one has been working for two months. Get what ya pay for.

The Craftsman LT1000 mower with Briggs engine has a problem with the solenoid that is mounted on the carb fuel bowl. Once it starts to act up the engine sputters, bogs down and dies. Once the engine cools off it will restart and run for a little while until the same thing happens. This new solenoid is an easy fit and so far has solved the problems of fuel cut off. Price is pretty steep for what it is. Genuine Briggs part that is made in Mexico. We'll see how long it lasts.

My 16 year old Craftsman lawn tractor would start fine and run for 15-20 minutes. Once hot, it would cough and chug to a halt from gas or air starvation. Wait 5 minutes and it would restart. I replaced the air filter, the gas filter and the gas lines to no avail. I cleared the gas cap and ran the tractor with the gas cap loosened also to no avail.A YouTube video showed that the solenoid fitted to the carb could fail in two ways. Most common, it fails full open flooding the carb and cylinder when the engine is not running. The less common failure is when the engine and solenoid are hot, and it fails to the closed position choking off the gas. This was my situation.I bought and installed this part... problem solved. Three DIY notes. You have to drain the gas tank and lines, and removing the existing solenoid also causes gas spillage. Be prepared. Also, this replacement solenoid does NOT include the metal gasket/washer: be sure to recover that washer from the solenoid you remove and re-use it. Last, I used a 13mm bicycle wrench to install as bike wrenches are thin.If the price of this solenoid scares you there is a non-Briggs & Stratton knock-off that costs about half the price. I chose not to experiment with unknown quality.

The product was a proper fit, however, due to it being slightly smaller (in length), I needed a special wrench to properly tighten in place. A regular open end wrench was too thick to fit between the part and the housing.

Perfect replacement for Fuel Solenoid on my Scott's L1742 Briggs & Stratton 17 HP Engine (Model: 31F707 Type: 0112 E1 Code: 020722ZA). Easy to replace the faulty solenoid with this one. Alternatively there are videos on youtube that show how to modify the faulty solenoid so that your mower will still run. For me it was worth the price for a new solenoid - very easy to install.
