The shaft may have had some grip application. I believe through warehouse storage and temperature fluctuations it became gooey. Have not had a chance to put it to the test as the shaft seems a bit small for all heads.The goo is removable with dish soap and rubbing alcohol. Smooth matte finish after. Just wish that the heads wouldn't rattle so much (yes, I have heard of tape). No durability testing, but it is smooth with grip. Not sure if it is solid core, but it is not on the very light end of the spectrum. Probably wouldn't purchase again, too much hassle.

Purchased this for my son, high school attackman, and unfortunately it broke on the first shot he took in a game. I think he used it all of 2 minutes. He has broken shafts before, but only after a reasonable amount of play and not on a shot!
