Now Bulova makes history again with the special edition Lunar Pilot Chronograph. Features stainless steel screw-back case in silver-tone finish and black dial and sapphire glass.

From the Precisionist Collection. Featuring Bulova’s proprietary Precisionist accuracy, this advanced chronograph offers 1/1,000-second precision over a twelve-hour time frame, with accuracy to within seconds a year. In stainless steel with curved crystal, multiple-layer black carbon fiber, blue, silver and black dial, chronograph measurement of hours, minutes, seconds, 1/10-seconds, 1/100-seconds and 1/1,000-seconds, yellow continuously sweeping second hand, luminous hour and minute hands, luminous markers, tachymeter, calendar, screw-back case, screw-down crown, double-press fold-over clasp with safety lock, and water resistance to 50 meters.

Providing an extraordinary level of timing accuracy, the Bulova Precisionist Chronograph is the only chronograph to combine stopwatch timing to 1/1,000-second with Bulova’s exclusive Precisionist-class torsional resonator movement, proven in laboratory testing to be one of the world’s most accurate.

Easy and logical to read, each style features four subdials to display the cumulative time at a single glance, with individual measurements on the combined 1/10- and 1/100-second counter, as well as the hour and minute dials, dual-duty floating second hand, and a distinctive 1/1,000-second track with retrograde indicator.

Precisionist Technology

At the heart of the watch is the Bulova Precisionist-class torsional resonator movement, custom-engineered to provide accuracy to within seconds a year using a three-prong quartz crystal that creates a vibration frequency of 262.144 kHz, the highest of any watch in the world and far greater than that of a standard quartz crystal. In laboratory testing, the Precisionist-class movement has been shown to be three times more accurate than standard quartz. This proprietary manufactured movement, including the signature floating second hand, also offers a resistance to gravitational error that makes it superior in performance to any mechanical watch on the market.

About Bulova

In 1875, Joseph Bulova, a 23-year-old immigrant, set up shop in New York City and a legendary American watch brand was born. Since then, Bulova has stood proudly in the vanguard of timekeeping innovation, committed to the legacy of creativity and excellence established by its founder.

A pioneering force in the industry, Bulova transformed how watches were worn and how time was perceived, registering over 50 patents as he and his company built a record of creativity including the first full lines of men’s (1919) and ladies’ (1924) wristwatches, the first clock/radio (1928) and the first electric clock (1931). To ensure the utmost in precision, in 1920, Bulova even established its own observatory – located atop its New York skyscraper. With that same spirit of innovation, following World War II, determined “to serve those who served us,” Bulova established The Bulova School of Watchmaking, using new and unique methods to train disabled veterans for positions in the watch and jewelry industry. Then, in 1960, Bulova changed timekeeping forever with the revolutionary Accutron, the world’s first fully electronic watch. An integral component of U.S. space technology, Accutron timing was used on 46 NASA missions, including Apollo XI, the first lunar landing (1969).

Today, as one of the world’s most recognized brands, Bulova has expanded across the globe, with four separate watch brands, Bulova, Bulova AccuSwiss, Bulova Accutron II and Caravelle New York, as well as the award-winning Bulova Clocks.

The signature Bulova brand provides an extensive selection of watches for every occasion, crafted of the finest materials, including 315L surgical grade stainless steel, diamonds, mother-of-pearl, carbon fiber, top-quality leather and Bulova’s proprietary Duramic nylon/ceramic composite, and powered by Precisionist-class quartz, automatic and quartz movements. An industry leader in diamond watch styling, with the new Diamond Gallery offering exquisite designs in stainless steel with sapphire crystals, Bulova is also known for Precisionist, featuring Bulova’s proprietary Precisionist-class quartz torsional resonator movement for accuracy to within seconds per year, the Marine Star collection, combining high-performance sports timekeeping with superior durability and water resistance to a minimum of 50 meters, and a comprehensive selection of classic styles, each with a three-year limited warranty.

Amazing watch for a great price. I can’t stress how happy I am with this purchase. People say it is for people with large wrist, but I’m 5’10, and not that big of a guy, and it fits on my wrist perfectly. It is definitely heavy, but that isn’t a problem for me.Plus, I love the history regarding Apollo 15 in this watch

Punches so far above its weight. Took it to a professional jeweler to have links removed and they were complimented it as a very well built, beautiful watch. Highly affordable and dead on the time for months on end. Lotta features and it’s easy to use. Wish it could illuminate but I’m nitpicking now. Classy watch!

The Bulova Moon watch arrived very quickly. The watch was new and came with all the protective stickers around it. The watch box contained the warranty card and an information booklet with some history of the watch.Likes: very accurate, sapphire crystal, smooth sweep of second hand when using the stop watch function.Very legible with white hands against a black background and because the watch is larger. Applied markers add depth to the face. Comfortable to wear on my 7.25 inch circumference wrist worn above the wrist bone.Improvements: Sapphire crystal sits tall with the edges approximately 1mm above the bezel which could make the crystal susceptible to accidental damage. The date sits at 4:30 mark and is a bit small imo. But looks good because the number is white in color against a black background. The small second hand at the 6 o'clock position beats twice per second: It would have been perfect if it was designed to sweep smoothly like a Seiko Spring Drive movement or at minimum, an automatic watch, and we know it is possible because the chronograph hand moves smoothly as it sweeps the seconds.Tips: As long as the top of your wrist is at least 2.25 inches wide before it slopes down and around, the watch will sit well even if your wrist is less than 7 inches circumference. What you want for a balanced and comfortable position, is to have the watch sit on top of your wrist and the clasp sitting centered on the underside of your wrist. Because of my wrist shape, I had to shorten significantly the 6 o'clock side of the band much more then the 12 o'clock side of the band. Just experiment with the band's links for your best comfort level. The metal band uses the common pin system to hold the links together, so just follow the little arrows printed on the underside of the band because you have to push the pins out in the direction of the arrows. When putting the pins back, put the solid side of the pin in first. The other end of the pin is split and wider so that must go in last. It is really easy to do. And the other tip is to buy it on sale.

I am very pleased with my purchase. This is my fourth Bulova watch using the ultra-high frequency quartz movement used in their Precisionist line. This model is better constructed than any of the other Bulovas that I have had. The quality of the case and band are excellent. Some have complained that the band and case have slightly different finishes (case is stain, band is slightly brushed) but I really could not tell much of a difference. The band is comfortable and drapes nicely around the wrist. It has a butterfly closure that I prefer bu ist hard to find in "sports" watches that normally use a tri-fold closure with a clasp. With the butterfly closure, there is no outer clasp to become scratched. The watch is listed at 45 mm diameter, which is accurate. However, it has a slightly stepped construction in that the diameter of the face of watch is about 41 mm. Therefore, this watch wears smaller than 45 mm. Because of this, I think it is better proportioned than many large chronographs. The best thing about this watch and the reason it was chosen by one astronaut as a backup watch is the legibility of the dial. (FYI: the Omega Speedmaster was the original NASA purchased watch but the Bulova was used as the backup watch by at least one astronaut on the moon mission. In that case, his Omega stopped working and the Bulova had to be used). Being able to see the time at a glance is excellent due to the design of the hands, the dial, and the fact that the sapphire crystal has an anti-reflective coating. You should be aware that the center sweep seconds hand is for chronograph seconds and will move only when activated by the top pusher. Continuous seconds is shown in the lower subdial where the hand will tick 2 times per second. Subdial on the right is for 1/10 seconds, and the subdial on the left is for lapsed minutes up to 60 minutes. The subdials could have been slightly larger and the 60 minute counter should have been reduced to 30 minutes as on many chronographs. The shape of the pushers are unique to this model and have been widely praised. I like them myself and they work great. In case you are wondering about the battery life due to the higher energy consumption of the movement, it far exceeds Bulova's estimate of 2 years. My oldest Bulova Precisionist is more than 3 years old and I have never had to replace the battery even with a continuous sweeping center second hand going continuously for 3 1/2 years. This battery life seems common based on the discussion on many watch forums. I think that this purchase is money well spent.

I have always loved the omega speedmaster professional (moon watch) and was doing my research on the countless reference numbers when I stumbled upon the Bulova Moon Watch. I was torn between just saving some more and getting the omega speedmaster reduced (about 2k) or just scratch the itch and hope it's goes away with the Bulova.Since I recently made a big purchase and bought a new Rolex datejust II, I figured why not try the Bulova For the $370 I paid (now listed at $350).I have to say, I am pretty pleased with the Bulova Moon Watch. The bracelet is comfortable and butterfly clasp is outstanding. The watch is precise as hell. The monochromatic dial is appealing and I find myself staring at it often when I wear this on the weekends. The raised sapphire crystal is a really cool and unique feature that I look at often as well. There are some cons in my opinion. Firstly, while this watch is not too big for my wrist (7.25 inches in diameter), Bulova should not have gone larger than 42mm. Even on the substantial bracelet, the watch is top heavy.. also, I wish the bracelet tapered. Lastly, I do wish the entire case matched the brushes surfaces as the bracelet. It's not screaming at me when I look down but just a little thing to note.I do not think this watch is suitable for anyone with a wrist smaller than mine or 7" at most. It's a big watch (not like silly invicta big).I do recommend this to someone who is looking for an omega speedmaster alternative. It satisfied my itch and has a really cool story to tell when people mistake it for the omega or just wonder what's on your wrist. For me, it's in the weekend rotation only since I wear a suit and my Rolex to work everyday.I hope this helps some of you on the fence.
