They work great, look good, and are easy to use. I'm quite happy. Of course, it takes a lot of practice to get good results, and you'll never achieve the elegance of a true calligraphy pen that you dip into a jar of ink, but this is a great set to get started and see how you like dipping your toe into the hobby

I’m really pleased with how these pens perform, super convenient and way less messy than dealing with a metal nib and ink bottle. . The bolder tips are my favorite; they just feel right, though you’ve got to slow down and nail the motion. That said, the finer tips can be a bit inconsistent, and the ink isn’t fully waterproof, so it might smudge depending on the paper. For anyone who loves the calligraphy look but doesn’t have time for the full-on traditional setup, these are a solid choice, especially for beginners

This set of black calligraphy markers is just what I was looking for. It comes with a variety of chisel points and brush points. I am not a good calligrapher, but occasionally want to be able to make my handwriting look better. I would also like to learn some basic calligraphy. This set is perfect for me.

These pens are much more convenient and cleaner than a metal tip and ink bottle. I've used them when I don't want the whole ordeal of a real calligraphy set. Slowly, I've noticed I reach for these more often which means I think I like the convenience factor more than the art. They are not completely water resistant and do smear depending on the medium and I've had the smaller tips be inconsistent for me. I REALLY like the thicker tips. You just have to get the motion right and for me that means slowing way down. Overall, I'm really happy with the results. I'd say this is a good beginner's set and for someone who likes the calligraphy look, but doesn't have the time for the complete art!

These pens feel good in the hand. I made a test page (see photo) showing the width of the lines and the type of tip, which include round tips, brush pens, and angled tips. The ink in all of these flowed smoothly, except for the smallest diameter (0.8 mm). I’m not sure whether the ink wasn’t flowing or if it was a little dry. The more I used it, the more the flow improved.I don’t completely understand – or know how to use – the chiseled-tip pens. To do italic calligraphy, I am accustomed to using a pen tip that has a straight side, but these are cut at an angle (see my sketch illustrating this). I find myself using the pointed (sharper and longer) end of the pen, which I know will wear down quickly. Perhaps I’ll figure out how to use these correctly, but I haven’t yet.The product description stated that the ink in these pens is both “waterproof” and “water based.” The package refers to the pens as “water resistant.” I drew a damp brush across the test page, and all of the ink was re-wet (see the first photo). I had hoped to use these calligraphy pens as a base for watercolor paint, but clearly the ink is not waterproof, and this approach won’t work.I really like the varying sizes of the brush pens. In my experience, this type of pen is often too large, but these serve a variety of purposes. I am using these pens for sketching (without a water-based medium on top) and for general writing when I want a dark ink.

A good variety of calligraphy pens came in this order; there are 9 pens in total: 4 of them are hard tipped nibs and 5 are brush-type soft tipped nibs. I am more familiar with the traditional flat tipped calligraphy pens, so I was able to jump right into using the 1mm, 2mm & 3mm pens (see photo 1). I will have to practice a lot to write well with the brush-type soft tipped pens. The pens have high-pigmented black ink, and they write smoothly. The pens are advertised as waterproof, fadeproof and non-bleeding, so of course I had to test that out. I was very impressed that spraying water on the paper did not smear writing, so the claims are true! (see photo 2). It is also nice that the pens are water based, safe and non-toxic. This is a great set of calligraphy pens to satisfy your creativity, and I highly recommend it!

I found it hard to get a consistent ink flow with some of these. Some are better suited for calligrapy with a beveled tip, and some have just a straight tip- especially the smaller sizes. They do say water resistent, but I found the resistence to be minimal. They're good for beginners and for general art, but to get good calligraphy results I think you need waterproof ink and better pens.
