(This is a comparison review)Last year I purchased another name brand unit that was a round, two burner, flat top grill with removable lid (not hood). My comparison opinion is based on my experience during use of both. I was extremely unhappy with the round unit as the lid was a nightmare to deal with. Also the flame on the round unit was highly affected by any wind. The temperature across the round unit was extremely difficult to figure out. Cleaning was a pain because the round ring grease catch system was really difficult to remove the debris or grease to the rear grease catcher on the back of the unit. It rusted a lot until I got it seasoned over about 12 uses. I used the recommended Avacoto oil with high smoke temperature on both units.OVERALL NIGHT AND DAY DIFFERENCE1) Installation directions for the Char Griller were not very clear but it had minimal hardware so I figured it out.2) Because the grease catch is in the front I did not have to move the unit to access the rear. This is my favorite feature! Cleaning is a breeze especially for bacon grease.3) Having 3 burners is fantastic! I only use the center burner to cook 4 hamberger patties at the same time. For steaks I use 2 on high and use the other side for grilling onions, mushrooms and vegetables. I do not need much additional heat for these and sometimes I just do a slow sauté of these items with butter/olive oil. I place the steaks on top of some round grills flipped upside down to keep the outside from getting over cooked or charred. It also leaves some nice char broil marks on the meat if I get them really hot than apply the meat.4) What I found most amazing is: After my first seasoning with Avocado oil I have had (0) rust! I have used it 5 times and the seasoning is getting better with each use. With the round model I had to remove lots of rust before cooking and seasoning after 10-12 uses.5) This grill has wind guards to keep the flame from getting disturbed on breezy days. They work great.6) The movable hood is excellent! I don't need to worry about anyone (wife, grand kids or dogs) getting burned by the hot lid I must remove from the round one and place on a table or large hook. I burned my arm a few times bumping into this monstrosity. I forgot to cover the unit once and the wind blew the lid across my yard one night, the grill top got wet and the grease ring trap spilled grease onto my deck. Than I had to remove tons of rust and start the seasoning all over again.I personally chose this unit because of the front grease trap. The other rectangle name brand unit has a rear trap that would require I move the unit in and out of the alcove I have built for a flat top grill. I only have a few inches of clearance on the sides and it's a lot of work to gain access to the rear.My only regret is this unit went on sale for $220 after I purchased it. I hope Amazon comes up with a plan that if an item goes on sale within 30 days of purchase they would provide a credit on Prime Members accounts. They know they will get the money from us anyway.I would never buy a two burner grill again. I save gas when making a small amount because it heats in the direct center. It takes some practice grilling on a flat top. Like placing some round grills upside down to keep the meat moist and not over cooked on the outside. Pancakes and stir fry vegetables are a breeze. My secret is to put some OLD BAY seafood seasoning on both sides of any meat. I have found this keeps the steaks and chops more moist. Just a gentle sprinkle over both sides. If you expect to have perfect grill marks like a non-flat top you will need to develop a method that works best for you. I like being able to apply water, oil or seasoning directly to the grill while I am cooking. I couldn't do that with an open top grill. Wood or gas!I give this 4.99 stars. The instructions will be difficult for the novice. I recommend printed step by step instructions. Not just sketches of an upside down or on its side unit.

First flattop griddle I've owned. Takes a little getting used too but you can cook anything on this grill. Make sure to season it and clean it up after each use just like the hibachi guys. Very easy to put together and setup. Hopefully it last for a long time. Definitely would recommend buying one

I bought this flat iron griddle last week. After looking at other brands, I decided to go with the Chargriller. It was less money than others and I already have a Chargriller charcoal grill, which I love and it’s been very reliable.Putting the griddle together was very easy. It says 2 people needed but I did it by myself. The only problem I had was, putting the side shelf on. After trying multiple times, I realized that I didn’t follow the directions correctly 🤦🏻. Once I had the grill all put together, I seasoned the griddle. Which was super easy. For my first cook, I made smash burgers. The griddle got hot very fast and the cook took no time at all. I can’t wait to try some other recipes on this griddle. I really like it a lot after only one cook.
