I hadn’t heard of the quality control issues with cams & lifters that apparently has been ongoing over the last few years, but I can attest that it is real. I bought this cam for the 302 in my sons truck. The engine was rebuilt and we ran break-in, ended up with 3 bad lifters in less than 100 miles. Extremely disappointing, as now we have to disassemble and reinspect the engine. I remain unsure of what to do about another cam/lifters though, I may have to bite the bullet and switch to a roller cam.

Comp Cams is aware it has a metal hardening issue. Free search of Google and facebook supports this but the company tech support never responds. Went through 2 set of their lifters and 1 cam in a SBF in only 20 minutes run time. Their product filled our customers new engine with metal. Not an assembly lube problem. We are a large auto shop that does this type of work daily. Got tired of waiting for product support so I charged back the credit card and sent it back. Used a different brand cam and lifters that worked out fine. While they never answer tech lines I was able to always connect by hitting the NEW SALES extension. Imagine that. Never again.
