I have been using the plain steel version of this link for years. Decided to get this gold link so I could easily find the removable link faster. It works exactly like the steel link. No problems at all. Another reviewer claims to have had a problem with the gold version but I have not had any issues whatsoever. I can install and remove the link with my bare hands and have not found any issues with the link or the drivechain.

The Wippermann Connex Link is a simple device. It allows you to remove the chain from your bicycle - or put it back on - in a matter of seconds. There are literally hundreds of YouTube videos showing how the link works so I won't attempt to describe it here. it really is simple and requires no tools.So why take off the chain? It makes cleaning and lubricating the chain easier. I use the method described on the oz_cycling YouTube channel with paraffin, paraffin oil and PTFE (Teflon).The Connex Link is an excellent value for the money as it will last the life of the chain - 2-3K miles or so.

This little link is expensive, yes, without doubt. But it works, and is super easy to use, time after time. I tried another major name brand and it was difficult to use and nearly impossible to reuse.

You can get this into a chain, but it is a very tight fit and I have to use pliers to get the individual sides out to put into a new chain. This will likely damage the chain and the quick link over time. I have several of the non-gold ones that are much better, but wanted to have a different color so I could more easily spot the removable link.
