Some automotive manufacturers install a special socket on the vehicle to be used for vehicle-to-trailer wiring. Although this special socket is not equipped on every vehicle, a CURT custom wiring connector -- also called a T-connector -- utilizes the socket for simple, stress-free installation. Rather than requiring you to cut, splice and solder into your vehicle's wiring system, the custom wiring connector uses a single OEM-compatible plug and instantly provides a standard, universal vehicle-to-trailer wiring connection, typically in the form a 4-way flat. All CURT custom wiring connectors are made vehicle-specific for the easiest possible installation and the best fit. This particular plug-in connector provides a 4-way flat socket and is designed to be a custom wiring option for certain years of the Mazda CX9 (to verify your vehicle compatibility, see application info). This harness plugs into the mating connector on the factory wiring harness. All "flat four" trailer signals plus power were just there waiting for this baby to come along. Now I have to track down an easy connection for the reverse lights (to lockout the surge brakes).

I gave this product 4 stars because the instructions do not provide a suggestion on how to get the wiring out of the car. They want you to stick it out of the trunk when in use, thats ridiculous. I found that underneath the spar tire there are factory holes with plugs in them, this is the route i used and it worked well. Plently of length to the wires. Almost too much wire to be hoenst.

Overall, this unit is a good value for the average trailer customer. Install on my vehicle was straight forward as long as you take your time with the trim panels.

Perfect fit, easy to install, take about 20 min. for the CX-9. Mazda conveniently ran the wiring harness from the engine to the back panel. Thus, just needs to be remove... follow the YouTube video! Money well spent!!
