Before I get into my review of the dog shoes, I want to mention the excellent customer service I received from this company. As recommended in the listing, I measured the paws and referred to their sizing chart, following the instructions to choose the appropriate size. While the width was ok, the shoes weren’t long enough for the big beast beans my dog possesses. I thought maybe the weight recommendation would be better than the measurements. The difference between charts meant changing from a size 5 to a size 8.Since they mention contacting them if the sizing isn’t quite right the first try, I sent them a message explaining the problem and asking to exchange the shoes. I was messaged back promptly with a friendly response and an offer to send me the new size with no need to return the first pair. Top marks for this company for after-sales service. Now, on to the shoes themselves. The soles are made of a sturdy yet flexible rubbery material. The fabric upper feels robust with a bit of stretch. The inner lining is soft and feels like fleece. I don’t feel any padding between the insole and the sole, which seems ideal to me, so my dog can feel more of the surface he’s walking on. The stitching looks straight and sturdy, anchoring the velcro firmly. The materials and construction look great.Getting my dog to allow the insertion of his feet into these shoes has been an amusing task that definitely requires two people: one to distract, and the other to strap the shoes on. There is a lot of getting snorfled in the face and yanking away of toes. Eventually, though, we’ve managed to get them on a few times now. This is the part where my husband and I tried not to cry laughing as our poor pup flailed about, lifting his feet like a dressage pony. He was *not* impressed with his new accessories, but didn’t try to get them off. We went on our usual walk, and he adapted to them pretty quickly. His clumsy clomping smoothed out a bit, and he walked more normally. His feet do fit nicely inside the larger-sized shoes, so in my experience, the weight chart is better for a bigger dog than the measurements chart. The shoes on his back feet stayed on perfectly without twisting about or sliding off. They were excellent. Now for the downside, and the reason I deducted some stars. The front shoes just won’t stay put. Within a half block, we had to fix both the front shoes. They keep scootching sideways and downward, so he ends up walking on the fabric with the soles flopping about uncomfortably in front of his feet.I think the difference between the front and back staying power is the structure of his ankles. His front just flex more, and it’s making the fabric move around. Maybe his ankles aren’t beefy enough? This *might* be remedied by adding an additional piece of hooked velcro around the side toward the back of the shoe so that I can pull the closure further to anchor it before wrapping the strap around.I’m definitely going to try it, as I was to protect his feet from the hot sidewalks under the summer sun. As they are, these shoes are only good for protecting half of his feet.

First off, I will say that these are very durable and well-made doggie boots. They come with a cute little storage bag, and they are very easy to clean. The fact that they have a tongue that folds out makes them easier to put on (in theory) because doggie's dew claws don't get caught like with the sock kind of booties. I have a beagle mix (that's her in the photo admitting bootie-wearing failure), and I went with the recommended size for a beagle, which is a 4; unfortunately, that is way too big, and they won't stay on her feet. I guess I should have gone with a 3, but in my case, I'm not sure even that would have worked well, and here's why: If you have a cooperative doggie who will stand and let you put these boots on, I think they'll be great. However, my little drama queen goes wet-noodle on me and collapses, which means I'm trying to put them on her while she's laying down with all four legs sticking up in the air. While that might be helpful for putting other types of boots on, it doesn't work well for these because of the hard, solid soles on them. These are not going on correctly unless your doggie will stand up and make sure his/her paws are all the way in before tightening. I've tried several different types of doggie boots because I just can't seem to hit on the right size (seriously, it should not be this hard), and these are the most well-made ones I've gotten, so I definitely recommend them if (a) you can get the right size, and (b) your doggie doesn't go boneless when you're messing with his/her feet.

We live in Arizona so I trained my dog to wear shoes when he was a puppy. While we avoid going out during the hottest time of the day, sometimes it’s necessary. Since he’s far too heavy to carry, protective footwear is a must. He’s two-and-a-half now and his paws grew over the winter, so I ordered this pair of shoes from Xiugou Care Store to have them ready when we need them. The product page provides a size guide that uses paw width to determine sizing. My dog’s front paws are just under 3 inches wide so I chose Size 6, which is listed at 2.8” width. They arrived today and I put his shoes on right away so we could check them out.One thing I appreciated right away - these shoes are fully open. The tongue pulls back completely so you can clearly see inside and easily guide the paw down into the sole. Some dog shoes are like tubes and make it difficult to get the paw into the shoe, claws can get hung up which is not comfortable for the dog - these shoes avoid that issue entirely. I’ve included a photo to show what I mean.Once the paw is in the shoe, pull the tongue back against the dog’s leg, and there’s a thick strap with Velcro that wraps around snugly. After securing that, there’s an extra-long narrow Velcro strap that wraps around again - at least a full turn on my dog’s leg, which helps keep the shoes on securely. In my experience, this will go a long way to prevent the dog from flipping the shoes off if they take off running. I’ve had that happen and suddenly dog’s feet are getting burned while you’re trying to retrieve a flying shoe. This design seems like it will help prevent that scenario. The soles are rubber and while they seem sturdy, I’ll be testing them more thoroughly once the summer heat really kicks in. In Arizona, that means asphalt hot enough to fry an egg (literally). I want to be sure the soles won’t melt or deform, and that they provide enough insulation to protect his paws. That will be the real test!So far, these seem like high-quality dog shoes. One last feature I like: the long narrow Velcro strip is reflective, which will be great for nighttime walks.Item Reviewed: Xiugou Care Store Dog Shoes for Small, Medium and Large Dogs - Waterproof for Rainy Days, Fit for Winter Snow and Hot Summer Roads, with Anti-Slip Soles for Indoor Hard Floors (Black, Size 6)
