About this item

  • Fitment: Carburetor Electric Choke Thermostat Cap Replacement for 1400 1403 1406 1409 1410 1411 1413 1901 1903 1906 1916 9906 1801 1806 1813 1825 series carburetor, 500 / 600/ 650/ 750 / 800 style carburetor.
  • Function: The electric throttle solves the problem of opening the manifold heating choke too slowly and was standard on many emissions-friendly cars in 1973 and later.
  • Works: An electrical choke works by heating the carburetor spring to 12 volts, which pulls down the lever that is about to open.
  • Installation:Install the new bearing seat cap on the housing and tighten the fixing ring bolts so that the cap is fixed in place but can be rotated. Position the mark on the cover and align it with the central index of the casting, then tighten the bolt.
  • Package: 1 x choke thermostat cap, 3 x bolts, 1 x red wire, 1 x black wire, 2 x gaskets, other parts.

The following is my objective review and unbiased results of my experience with this product. I have provided pictures and video when possible. I don't *do* unboxings. I really try to "tell it like it is".This aftermarket electric choke "kit" is *OK*. Not perfect by any means, but it is considerably cheaper than buying an OE part. There are a couple of items that may be a problem to some people, and I'll get to some other stuff.Frankly, the main part I am concerned with is the actual electric choke itself. The choke itself operates acceptably. It is slightly slower in heating up than a factory unit, but not enough to be a problem. Once it gets hot, it is HOT. It is definitely hot enough to burn you if you touch the coil. Now, the other issues. The screws that are provided can't be used, they are the wrong thread pitch. If you have your orginal screws, this won't be a problem. The round choke strap DOES fit OK. I show it in the pictures. Same size as OE.The actual choke housing is slightly smaller than OE. Probably lacks about .060 in diameter. This will not be a problem once bolted down. Frankly, I have seen choke housings that an OE choke would not fit in without some "persuasion". I have had to modify more than a few choke housings or choke coils to fit inside the choke housing, Holley, Carter AFB, and Edelbrock. So the fact that this choke is slightly smaller won't be a problem. There will still be a vacuum seal under the choke also.I tested this choke on an old Edelbrock core I had laying around, and it worked satisfactorily.(side note: My 40 plus year old "choke power supply" is apparently putting out well in excess of it's advertised 13.8V. I was not aware of this. So keep that in mind when you see the almost 20V DC being applied to the choke, and remember that I mentioned it opened slightly slower than OE. )Also, if you're interested, this is a rare opportunity for me to mention my background.Former Holley employee, owner of my own carburetor shop for over 20 years (1984-2004), and still do carburetor work to this day. Have probably rebuilt or repaired well over 30,000 automotive carburetors, for normal rebuilds and race cars.I'm qualified to comment on this part.

I have an older marine generator that had a failed electric choke. I don’t know if the carburetor is one that this is supposed to work with but the dimensions were correct so I ordered it. The wire connectors were different that the one I was replacing but that is no big deal. The linkage for the generator made it a little fiddley to get put together but it worked out great.

Carburetor parts can be hard to come by these days, unless it's for something aftermarket. So, I was happy to find this kit, which will let me experiment with electric choke on a built up 2300 Ford engine that's been upgraded to a 2-Barrel carb.I'm not 100% convinced I want to eliminate the manual choke that I fitted (I live in an area free of emissions testing), but this will let me see if I can find a good compromise of driveability and convenience for not much money. It seems to be the same quality as others I've gotten at the parts store in years past, but those are now typically a special order item (slow!) and cost more than this kit.For the modest cost, I'm happy with what I received. The nature of parts like this for old vehicles is that they may require a bit of massaging for different applications. I typically re-use the fasteners and choke cap clamp that came on the original carb, so compatibility of the screws that came in this kit did not concern me.

Not sure if these are correctly made. I couldn’t get it to work properly. It lined up completely different than the original.
