Starting out, this grinder will serve it's purpose, but getting there can be a little annoying at times with the touch screen. Sometimes the screen is not as responsive as you would like, and it can take a few tries to register the touch how you want it. Eventually you get there, but as I said, it can get a little bit annoying. The build quality (minus the touchscreen) seems to be pretty solid, and has a premium feel to it. It looks nice, does not take up much space and the space it does take up simply looks better with how stylish this grinder is. I use the Settle grinder myself and it makes a racket when being used, so this one seems whisper quiet in comparison. Even if it is still a bit loud, it's still quieter than a lot of other comparable grinders on the market.Retention is not too bad, and at this price point for an espresso grinder, you can't expect to end up with zero retention, but it's not a deal breaker, and honestly not a big deal. I just weigh out and extra half gram of beans, and if i end up with a little too much, no big deal. One trick I learned to help with retention is to put a drop or two of water in with the beans or give them a quick spritz and it cuts down on it by eliminating the static.I personally prefer manual controls like knobs or buttons over a touch screen, and this grinder is a prime example of how it could take it from a good to great grinder to an exceptional grinder with those manual buttons. In the end, the end result is all that really matters, and you can get very respectable results with this grinder. It's fairly quick, and I have noticed absolutely no clogging or issues with the grind. The espressos I make using this grinder are not as good as the espressos I get with my higher end grinder, but considering it is half the price as my daily driver and the results are pretty close, I would say it speaks to the quality. If you need a grinder that can step up your espresso game without breaking the bank on something twice the price, I feel like it's hard to go wrong with this one. If only they had a better touch screen or buttons instead, this would have been a home run and an easy 5 stars. Make no mistake, this is a fantastic grinder all the same.

Retention is marginal but always present, clears easily. The FAILURE point is the power switch. I refuse to beg a grinder to power on or off.

This grinder does make excellent and consistent grounds, whatever size you choose, and it works very fast. It's amazingly quiet, and I really like that it gets every last bean, including the last one that usually just bounces around. Additionally, it is tall, but it has a small footprint, and it's super easy to take apart and clean. The touch screen took a little getting used to for the right touch at first; however, it does remember your settings. The two drawbacks I found are that it is pretty messy no matter how close or far you put your container to the dispenser spout. A lot of grounds end up on the plate and all around the spout. The worst part for me is that it has a button that has to be triggered to start grinding. It's made for a specific portafilter that connects and pushes the button automatically, but if you don't have that portafilter, you are stuck holding the button that's in an awkward place under the dispenser spout, and you have to keep holding it until it's done. It does work quickly, but I could be making other preparations instead of holding the button.Additionally, I don't understand why it comes with a cheap plastic cup for dispensing the grounds. It seems to me that for the expensive price, it could have come with a stainless steel cup that could be made to trigger the grind button if you don't have the specific portafilter. The plastic cup seems like it was just a last-minute idea without any thought about it. Not everyone has a portafilter and drinks espresso.Overall, the grinds are excellent, but I feel there are other issues that need attention.
