  • SVT - New for 2018, our exclusive Surface Veil Technology is engineered to increase the overall toughness of the Dragonfly Eight. Epoch does this by adding an additional layer of a highly engineered material to the outer surface area of the shaft. During the manufacturing process the material is heated, causing it to become integral to the carbon fiber layup. SVT acts as an additional layer of protection, by helping to prevent micro fractures, increasing the longevity of your Dragonfly Eight.
  • INTELLIGENT WEAVE - Our proprietary 12K Intelligent Weave Technology is designed to stabilize the hands and push energy towards the head of the stick when passing or shooting. It allows for a more uniform construction of the shaft as the carbon filaments in each tow (row) are spread out to create a thinner woven fabric by reducing crimp for increased weight reduction while providing optimal mechanical performance and minimal voids in the layup.
  • UNIFORM RELEASE - Uniform Release provides a consistent flex profile throughout the top 2/3 of the shaft regardless of a player’s hand positioning. Our engineers agree this is substantially beneficial over a localized “kick point” or flex point, because unlike golf or hockey a player’s hands are always moving depending on the player’s position on the field
  • FLEX IQ - We achieve flex by manipulating the orientation of the carbon fiber. Our shaft’s bend when you need it to, but retains its firmness for maximum control. Conventional shafts that tout flex often use fiberglass, a cheaper, less durable material, to increase the bendability. Don’t sacrifice your game, choose Epoch.
  • TORQUE BOX 2 - Intelligent Weave allows for a more uniform construction as the carbon filaments in each tow (row) are spread out creating a thinner and more closed woven fabric providing reduced weight, optimal mechanicals and minimal voids in the composite layup. By reducing “Crimp” (when carbon fiber runs in a uniform direction(s) that is not structurally beneficial) we can decrease weight by reducing non-essential material while maintaining the structural integrity required by lacrosse.

Product Description

The Future is now

Carbon Fiber/Composite lacrosse shafts are the fastest growing category in the game – and Epoch is leading the charge. Now is the time to elevate your game and try a Dragonfly for yourself. Engineered with advanced aerospace grade composite materials like Carbon Fiber, the Dragonfly Eight is loaded with technologies such as Flex iQ, Torque Box2, A.C.L and our newest tech-point for Surface Veil Technology. The Dragonfly Eight is built in your own backyard right here in the US.

SVT
New for 2018, our exclusive Surface Veil Technology (SVT) is engineered to increase the overall “toughness” of the Dragonfly Eight.

You Inspire us.

We know how hard you work on and off the field and your dedication as an athlete inspires our engineers to elevate their game in the lab. Your demand for pure performance has driven us to new heights and our journey has led us to create our latest technology – Surface Veil Technology. Epoch’s newest technology; SVT improves the Dragonfly by increasing the overall “toughness,” by helping to eliminating micro-fractures, without adding additional weight.

Dragonfly Eight Attack/Midfield

The newest Dragonfly has arrived. Performance, power and toughness are taking over the game. The 2018 Dragonfly Eight with Surface Veil technology(SVT) is more than just your new gamer, it’s your chance to elevate your game to the next level. The Dragonfly Eight is one of the lightest Carbon fiber shafts on the market, while still being dent resistant, extremely durable. Best of all, it is made right here is the US.

C30 – Traditional Concave Geometry. Most popular.
E30 – Ergonomic Geometry. Ultimate Control.
X30 – Xtreme Concave Geometry. Exceptional Feel.

Dragonfly Eight D/LSM

The Dragonfly Eight was designed just for you and your game. Today’s long poles are frequently the best athletes on the field and the position has advanced greatly these past couple of years. However, D/LSM lacrosse shafts have generally remained unchanged and are often just a 60” version of the A/M handle. The Dragonfly C60, X60 and E60 are engineered specifically for the long-pole position. With the Additional of our exclusive SVT Technology goes ahead lay the lumber and let your attackmen know you’re there.

C60/C60xl – Traditional Concave Geometry. Most popular.
E60 – Ergonomic Geometry. Ultimate Control.
X60 – Xtreme Concave Geometry. Exceptional Feel.

Dragonfly Eight C40

When it comes to shaft technology goalies are often overlooked or forgotten about. We all know too well that goalies are the last line of defense and they can be the start of transition. That’s why we engineered the Dragonfly Eight C40 to be light weight and durable, allowing you make the save but also to play out of the net or help push in transition.

C40 – Traditional Concave Geometry. Most popular.

Dragonfly Eight F30

We think specialization is a good thing and faceoff athletes are the most dedicated at their craft. The F30 was engineered specifically for the athletes that are on one-knee and grind it out on the whistle. Epoch’s faceoff specific geometry improves the connection of your hands to the shaft by reducing slippage and reverse rotation while in the act of facing off.

F- Faceoff specific geometry. Improved hands to shaft connection.

Featured Epoch Technology

Torque Box 2

Intelligent Weave allows for a more uniform construction as the carbon filaments in each tow (row) are spread out creating a thinner and more closed woven fabric providing reduced weight, optimal mechanicals and minimal voids in the composite layup. By reducing “Crimp” (when carbon fiber runs in a uniform direction(s) that is not structurally beneficial) we can decrease weight by reducing non-essential material while maintaining the structural integrity required by lacrosse.

Lower F.A.W.

The Dragonfly utilizes unidirectional carbon fiber prepreg with a lower F.A.W. (Fiber Areal Weight) than conventional shafts. These smaller, lighter fibers allow for a tighter orientation of the carbon fiber. More fibers equals increased durability.

Slip/Grip

Highly engineered “gritty” textured topcoat, which allows for consistent grip to be maintained in all weather, while also allowing the shaft to move freely through your hands

“Kick” Up Your Game.

The Dragonfly’s Uniform Release point is designed to maximize shaft performance by creating a natural kick-point or flex point just above your top hand, when shooting and passing.

Flex iQ

We achieve flex by manipulating the orientation of the carbon fiber. Our shaft’s bend when you need it to, but retains its firmness for maximum control. Conventional shafts that tout flex often use fiberglass, a less durable material, to increase the bendability. Don’t sacrifice your game, choose Epoch.

Reload Technology

When passing or shooting, a load is introduced to the shaft causing it to flex back, which causes the carbon fibers to be stretched along the front of the shaft and compressed along the back. Reload Technology takes advantage of this situation by using low F.A.W. (Fiber Areal Weight) and high-modulus carbon fiber, which creates urgency for the fibers to return to their natural position for maximum recoil

Resin

The carbon fiber pre-preg used in Epoch shafts undergoes a chemical surface treatment process to improve the mechanical “locking” (compatibility) between the fibers and the matrix resin. The result is better laminate properties of the carbon fiber. An improved laminate results in better load transfer (energy) for increased durability.

ACL

Our Advanced Carbon Layering (A.C.L.) is what separates Epoch shafts from conventional composite shafts. By layering low F.A.W., uni-directional carbon fiber pre-preg in a specific manner we can control several aspects of the shaft’s performance, including flex, durability, weight and release point.

Buyers beware, stay away from this shaft, for 150 dollars, you only pay for the weight, that stick broke at first contact during my son's first practice. My son got so upset because he insisted before I bought it that this shaft is one of the best despite the bad reviews. I work hard to provide the best for my children and they understand that. A 150 carbon fiber dollars lacrosse stick should last a long time, not break like a piece of wood. I'm very disappointed and I expect a refund from the seller.

I must admit for as long as this thing lasted, I absolutely loved using it. Great weight and feel, but that only goes so far when the durability is as low as it is with this one.By way of background, I'm a post-collegiate men's league player, which means I play once a week for ~60% of the year, so lets say around 30 total games a year, all relatively casually (I'm not chopping tree trunks like I was in college) and of course no practices. I originally bought this back in July 2018, and the first one snapped clean in half in February 2019 after what couldn't have been more than 15 total games. Epoch honored the warranty, and after paying for shipping, I was sent another handle. I then didn't play for a few months, and picked it up again in June 2019 as summer ball picked back up, and yesterday, after about another 15 games or so worth of play, the replacement stick snapped about 1.5 feet below the top. The warranty only allows you to replace it once, so... This will unfortunately mark the end of my Epoch lacrosse experiment (and failure). I wanted to like it, but for $200 at retail, this aint worth it.

Bought a dragonfly G7 long pole for my 15 year old son, it broke within 6 months. I got a replacement Dragonfly G8 long pole which lasted 10 months and snapped in half on a check. Sadly I would not buy this product again. It’s a great lightweight stick, and that’s the problem. It breaks way too easy for my 15 year old. No durability at all.

Good stick that’s strong enough yet light enough to throw timely checks. Using a defense head from String King. My son switches between this stick and a True defensive shaft and found him going to the Epoch more often against elite attack men. Durable with stick checks.
