It fits well; I use it on my FTZ adapter, often leaving it attached to an AFS lens and now can find it very quickly.

▓▒░COLOR-CODED SANITY: HOW A RED LENS CAP SAVED MY PHOTOGRAPHY WORKFLOW░▒▓Every photographer knows that moment of confusion - grabbing for a lens while your subject waits with a smile that's starting to look forced. In the world of near-identical Nikkor SE lenses, this frustration becomes a regular feature. Enter the Fotodiox Designer Red Rear Lens Cap - an $8 solution to a problem draining my creative energy.► QUICK TAKE: A simple solution for distinguishing between similar lenses. Like putting name tags on identical twins - suddenly everything makes sense.──────────────────────────────────────────■ THE LENS IDENTITY CRISISMy camera bag contains the Nikkor SE 28mm, the Nikkor SE 40mm, and a TT Artisan 75mm. While the 75mm is easy to identify (it's the telescope one), the two Nikkor lenses might as well be twins - both sporting that gorgeous retro design with similar dimensions and minimal markings. The TT Artisan had its own issues - a loose back cap and an exposed USB port vulnerable in my bag. These small annoyances gradually build into workflow friction that disrupts your creative flow faster than a cell phone ringing during a portrait session.──────────────────────────────────────────✓ PROS• Instant visual identification for similar-looking lenses• Fits more securely than my original TT Artisan cap, which had the gripping power of a loose handshake• Protects vulnerable USB port on the TT Artisan lens• "Reach for Red" mnemonic makes lens selection automatic even when my brain is on autopilot• Attractive Oreo-like pattern design on cap face• Available in multiple colors (black, orange, yellow) for complete lens organization• Proper Z-mount specificity ensures correct fit without wobble✗ CONS• Alignment dot and rib are subtle - like trying to find Waldo at dusk• Could use more prominent markings for low-light situations• The actual cap color is a lighter sundried tomato red with orange tint, not the deeper red shown in photos• Only the red version was available with Prime shipping when purchased──────────────────────────────────────────☞ PERFECT FOR:• Photographers with multiple similar-looking lenses tired of squinting at tiny focal length engravings• Nikkor SE lens owners seeking to differentiate their 28mm/40mm twins• Anyone with a slightly loose stock rear cap• Photographers who value workflow efficiency• Visual thinkers who respond to color-based organization☜ NOT IDEAL FOR:• Photographers who need caps with printed focal lengths (these don't have them)• Those seeking the absolute cheapest option (OEM caps might be cheaper, but as exciting as beige paint)• Shooters working exclusively in extremely dark environments• The colorblind (sorry friends, this solution isn't for everyone)──────────────────────────────────────────※ FIELD NOTESThe "reach for red" mnemonic I've assigned to my more frequently used 40mm lens has become second nature after a month of use. This color association creates a shortcut that eliminates those moments of lens indecision that can break your shooting rhythm. While I originally wanted orange to match my camera, the cap that arrived was a lighter sundried tomato red rather than the deeper red shown in photos. Still, it creates good contrast in my bag, making it easy to identify. The Oreo-like pattern on the face adds a subtle design element that differentiates it from generic caps with all the personality of unseasoned chicken. For Z-mount users, the cap includes the appropriate Z-mount designation and alignment features, though these could be more pronounced for easier alignment in low light.──────────────────────────────────────────► THE VERDICTAt $8, this colored lens cap delivers value far beyond its modest price. What initially seems like a simple accessory becomes a workflow enhancement that eliminates lens misidentification frustration. For anyone juggling multiple similar-looking lenses (especially Nikkor SE pairs), these colored caps transform your gear management from guesswork to precision. Consider getting multiple colors if you have several similar lenses - your future self will thank you when every second counts.

I was hesitant to purchase this because other reviews said that the lens cap fit very loosely. I've purchased and tried them out and they fit quite fine for me.

Fit my lenses well and like having the red color makes it easy to see the cap when not in use.

It fits on my Z-lenses but it's so loose that it doesn't stay on well.

It fits reasonable well. The craftsmanship is a bit below what I expected. However, at the price there’s not much to complain about.
