[As a Vine member, Amazon lets me pick from a pool of free products in exchange for my honest review. Good, bad, or ugly, I call them like I see them.]Do you need to add gromets to a tarp or a canvas bag or anything else with 3/8th gromets? Then this is for you. Comes with a punch, but you don't really need it. Worked well on my thick canvas tool bag.

I got this because we do a lot of music festivals in the summer/fall and we hang tapestries. The tapestries never come with grommets and when you poke a hole in it and zip tie it to something, the wind will rip it to shreds (lesson learned). So when I saw this heavy duty grommet maker, I thought I'd give it a try. It works perfectly. It uses minimal effort to grommet tapestries and barely any effort to do a towel or something thicker. Why did I grommet a towel, you might be wondering... Well, it was to attach to my boyfriends frisbee golf bag and he was sooo impressed with it. It looked like I'd bought it that way. And after using it multiple times golfing it's held up just fine. As have the tapestries that I hung outside during the wind storm we had last week. The tapestries would've been shredded if I'd have hung them up like I normally do, but these held them steady. Now I'm going around wondering what all I can put a grommet on.

Tarps and shade clothes sometimes don't hold up. The grommets get torn out and then you have to replace it. With fixing torn out grommets, you save money instead of tossing that tarp. Really easy to use, since it has a grip like a pair of pliers. No banging on a grommet with a hammer. The grommets seem well made and will hold up. The grommet pliers were not hard to squeeze. Comes with 2 shades of colors.

Over the years, I have put a LOT of grommets into clothing, etc. I used the old fashioned method with grommet tools - hammer, metal bit with sharp edge, the nubby with the aligner, and a hammer. This tool is pretty great - and I don't have to put holes into wood trying to get the holes into the fabric because the directions say you don't HAVE to put the hole in first. Depending on what I am using it for will make a difference in whether I will pre-hole or not. BE SURE TO READ THE DIRECTIONS ON WHICH PART GOES WHERE. My first attempt was a disaster because I put the wrong piece in the wrong side and the whole thing got stuck. READ THE DIRECTIONS. But in the end, it produces a nicely set grommet - and thread scissors work really well for making the hole after the grommet is placed.

SOOOO much easier than the old, manual grommet kits. I applied extra grommets to a boat cover while it was on the boat! Try that with the old kits that don't included the pliers!Very happy with my pourchase!
