This is the headlight adapter so you can install Led headlights in the vehicle. I had to install the adapter 1st before I could put the bulb in. It was pretty easy to do.

I struggled for a long time (about one hour) to make this fit my car. Looking carefully at the attachment inside the car, I realized that this adapter was hitting it in the wrong place. I bent the metal part of the adapter upwards, i.e., toward the bulb. After more fiddling, the part fits. I wish some instructions came with the part. For instance, I was not even sure how to remove the ring of the led h7 bulb, nor of the proper orientation of this adapter (metal away from the bulb). If I were more courageous, I would undo the parts and make a video …. I am not very handy, so it may be that what I found difficult is easy for most people.

I was having problems finding an H7 bulb adapter that would work with my 2003 MB E320. Several were ordered on Amazon but none would properly fit a bulb into my headlight assembly. Fortunately, I was able to use these adapters by unscrewing the adapter ring and placing a nitrile O-ring in its place to securely hold either a regular H7 bulb or one of the newer LED bulbs with internal fan. The external fan LED H7 bulbs require a bit more work to install :0).
