So I guess I assumed this was going to be bigger, my fault there but this is a hatchet I thought it was going to be in between a hatchet and an axe. That being said the handle needs sanded, the logo in the handle looks cheap (I could do it myself on my glowforge better) and the sheath doesn’t look like it will stay buttoned long (looks like it will wear out fast). The pros:It’s crazy sharpThe metal engraving is perfectIt has good weight to itOverall for $130 the fit and finish feels rushed

This hatchet is 10x the price of cheaper models but it is 20x better making it the best value out there. I have been using this hatchet hard for many months now and has shown no sign of wear. I am happy to report that the edge can be re-sharpened by someone of intermediate skill and it is not possible for someone of my strength to break this thing. I regularly use wood and plastic wedges and the back end hammers with authority. I usually hate combination tools but the front end bites into wood like an angry god and the back end hammers like a dedicated tool. Now I need one tool on the woodlot instead of two. The leather sheath is a very nice touch. Do not waste your money on anything less expensive, this tool will outlive me and my kids will leave it to their kids.

For that much money, it better be five stars.Sure you could find better value in alternative solutions but I appreciate good quality tools. And, I prefer supporting smaller US companies that build a quality product.

Had a friend at survival school recommend this company. Love the hatchet! Very well balanced and sturdy. The fit and finish is top notch, and the steel is exceptional. I've used this hatchet around the farm for a month and prepped a camp sight with it last week. It took a lot of limbs and small trees(not to mention an unfortunate incident with the ground) to damage the edge. This was easily repaired with a bit of sharpening and some stropping, now it shaves like it did out of the box. Big time chopping capability for the size, and This 18" hatchet can split wood pretty well up until about 4" diameter. Still easily nimble enough to craft a bow drill kit. Only improvement i can think of(and idk if this works with ordinance steel) would be to make a notch on The top of the head for a ferro rod. This tool is well worth the money to anyone who is going to use it. This multipurpose axe with a fully functional hammer head is now a permanent part of my woods gear.

***This hatchet is gorgeous. The hatchet head is flawless, and perfectly weighted. It hits close to a full size axe, but not quite. The handle is shaped well to give you good power from every swing. I orignaly purchased the . My review of that is next. I returned it for reasons outlined in the review and purchased this instead. The heft of the head is great whether using the axe face or the recessed striker face. The stake/nail puller... haven't used that yet as I prefer a hammock, but I can see where it would be useful. The sheath included is supple leather and is extremely functional. No rivets for the axe head to dull itself against and easy, quick access. Some oil really brings out the beauty in the sheath. The axe comes razor sharp, and can shave arm hair. I battoned some wrist thick branches with it easily and shaved a point on some of them to drive into the ground with the hammer face. It accomplished both tasks easily. Since that's my main purpose in a hatchet, I'm extremely happy with it. It's also beautiful enough to sit side by side my ***Strengths: Material, design, craftmanship, weight, appearance, included sheath***Weaknesses:None noted***Recommendations:It's 100% worth the price. Buy quality: Cry Once.

I was on the fence when I purchased this item because I have never heard about the company before and I could not find any reviews online but I was in need of a hammer and who would not want a hammer with a cutting edge on the opposite side? I decided to take the leap and order the hatchet, when it arrived I was pretty disappointed because the handle had 2 cracks towards the bottom and some weird staining on the handle end. I contacted their customer service via email and within and hour I get an email from Rick Spencer who is the owner of the company. He apologizes for the error and promptly sends me another hatchet. To me this was very refreshing because I do not remember the last time I received customer service that was this fantastic. It seems a lot of companies out there are forgetting the importance of customer service now a days. What I think happened was that they accidentally sent me one of their testing hatchets. The new hatchet arrives and I am floored, the fit and finish are excellent. The grain orientation on the handle is perfect, the blade edge is razor sharp I was able to slice through paper like a hot knife through butter. The sheath is beautiful and you can tell that it is very high quality. The fit and finish of the hatchet matches my Gransfors Bruks SFA. I decided to test the hatchet on some wood I needed to process and this hatchet bites into the wood very deeply. I have included some pictures. After all the hacking I did the edge was still in excellent condition, no chips, rolls or dings. Also, it was still razor sharp that I was still able to make feather sticks. Also, the hatchet splits wood like a champ. I had no issues splitting all the wood in the pictures. This is an amazing tool if you are on the fence about it just buy it you will not be disappointed.
