They work fine, don't leak or anything price is good but I believe these to be to small for chickens. The previous ones I purchased had a wider hole and bigger pin, they allowed more water to come out. I've noticed my chickens struggling to get enough water from these. Might be OK for smaller game birds such as quail etc...

I like this product and the chicks like it to ; I do have water warmers in for this area of country it was 13deg this morning and the water was flowing just fine. I do test them once in a while to make sure and I don't use the grommet they send I just use a little plumber putty before I screw it in.

I just spent $111 on three new chicken hydrators from a farm store for my chickens. Within the first two days I lost 2 nipples due to the springs being pulled out by the chickens. These new nipples (different brand but same appearance) are a prefect replacement fit. Springs appears to be better than the original. So far, I have not had any issues with these replacements. I would buy them again, but with 48 out of 50 it looks like I am going to be well stocked for a while. I recommend this product.

Maybe my intended use was not the intended design use. No seals or O rings are provided with nipples, which makes sealing on radiused surfaces difficult. I found a step drill bit to be most effective at drilling holes in five gallon bucket. Twist drill bits want to tear the material and deform the bucket. Nipples sealed well to the bottom of bucket after cleaning up the hole drilled with twist drill. I found step drill made a much nicer finished hole with significantly less deformation. Sealing nipple to radiused sidewall of bucket or PVC pipe is a bit more challenging. I ground flat spots on PVC pipe to help seal it. When installing to schedule 40 pipe I used a tap to start the threads and create the tapper needed. Buckets were heated and blocks of wood were used to make a small flat spot for each nipple, easy and quick. The nipple material is soft, I installed nipple by hand and still managed to strip the threads off, or break some nipples. I have these for chicken and turkey use. The birds seem to have trouble hitting the valve hard and or long enough to receive sufficient water. My water supply is gravity feed and about two feet above the nipples. I am going to give them a try while supplying supplemental water for a short period twice a day.

We bought these to use for a watering setup for the chickens. Unfortunately, they routinely leak after only a short time in use. Some of them leak within days and have to be replaced. We've really found this annoying in the winter as the ice really builds up and it sort of defeats the purpose of having an automatic system. Still searching for nipples that don't leak. These are terrible.

We are installing these on plastic 5 gallon pails and they work well. Even our ducks can use them!

I bought these and also 50 from Stromberg Poultry supply co (US). When doing a video for my Tully River Quil YouTube channel ("leak free drinker nipples and winter watering solutions"), I was demonstrating the difference between the two Mfrs and also showed various reasons these fail. Of my order, I used a few of the new, yet failures from my purchase. I demonstrated that these had smaller diameter Orings that fit almost within the plastic housing instead of the larger dia ones used from Strombergs that seated atop the seal area. I also noted a few that had excess plastic flashing from the injection moulding process on the seat area that needed to be trimmed flush to repair them. Similarly, the O-rings most all had excess flash of silicone material around the perimeter, possibly interfering with proper seating in the future upon wear. One unit had the spring mounted backwards (the small end of the spring points towards the bird!) and the nipple trigger was very loose.Unfortunately, I installed these before evaluating the quality control, and therfore they ended up in my failure- to be repaired bag. I had minimal issues with Strombergs nipples. Check out my video for photos and a lengthy description of the above.
