The holes drilled for your pins are wider than the shaft, meaning the pins have play when set in place.This becomes notable when applying tension against a wire because it then creates an angle which the wire will try to creep up.The rubber securing tubes help mitigate it some,For the price, you will have a hard time beating it, but don’t expect precision.

This is actually a great idea. The concept of having movable pins to wrap your wire with makes complete sense, I just didn't realize that they don't clip into place or catch a magnet plate on the back. Plastic tubing is used on the back side of the pins to hold them in place. I suppose that this would be great if you're working one pattern and you just need a jig but it is pretty rough for experimenting when you are having to remove and replace them repeatedly. I don't see the tubes holding up for that long if a bunch of different patterns is a goal. Maybe buy 20 of them if you're doing production work? The step pliers, however, were perfect and worked exactly as they should.
