My ethernet communications port on my solar inverter died so this was grabbed to communicate with my aging and close to End of Life SMA inverter via it's built in RS485 port which means I can still scrape data from it and feed it into my home assistant or use it for MQQT serial integration with home assistant for data metrics.I've got it pulling basic data generational live data, but I need to find more info for integration. It worked okay / documentation was fair. But as far as serial over eth etc it has exceeded my expectations for usefulness and solid communication / polling of the interface terminal session.

This provides an excellent and extremely convenient way to modernize existing industrial controls, enabling control and diagnostics at a distance. Pretty much plug and play -- not many options in the web configuration interface, but pretty much everything you need is there.DIN rail mounting is EXTREMELY convenient for installing in existing control cabinets utilizing DIN rail, without having to come up with an alternative mounting solution for a square box serial server.I tested the PoE version to see how convenient it is, and it turns out it's extremely convenient. Doesn't take a minute to install and cable. Now, the obligatory point of caution --Putting any industrial equipment onto a network can be a risk -- if you don't know how to secure it. If you're using this (or any serial server) for any heavy duty applications, keep it on a control network isolated from the internet, either entirely airgapped or heavily firewalled. Limit any external access to VPN users. Don't get compromised by leaving your machine control hanging out on the internet without protection. That'll lead you to trouble in a hurry.Excellent product, just make sure you know how to use it properly.

The UI is primitive, the job of this device is quite simple, but it is a well executed device. It's a RS485 network bridge that can be powered by 802.3af PoE. Note that DHCP is NOT enabled by default - the default IP is 192.168.1.200 - but you can set DHCP with a simple checkbox. This should be more explicit in instructions, regardless, for the target industrial market of this device it's not necessarily unusual. It draws peanuts - .5w according to my PoE switch - and reboots in less than 5 seconds when changing settings. It's an extremely lightweight device, if you need to bridge RS485 to a network service, this may be the perfect device for you.
