These were thin enough to fit in the groove on my decking. The heads on the stainless steel screws are small, so the inner stainless steel fastener strengtheners keep the head from pulling through. I am very happy with the end results but wish the spacing was a little less. It is about 3/16"

This next generation of deck fasteners holds promise. I use them with Ipe' and other hardwood decks. These new connectors are an improvement over the last few attempts at a hidden fastener that is simple to install and still holds up in the real world. The kit is as advertised. However they could have included a few more plugs and screws for the lead boards and facing boards. . you will need them. They go in quick and easily. A couple of 'tricks' to making a less stressful installation is make yourself a few jigs (Plywood is cheaper and easier than Ipe'). Additionally, Cepco makes a couple of different kits, make sure the kit you buy works with the boards you are using. Don't bother buying a kit with regular phillips heads or square drive heads if you are installing Ipe. . you will add years to your life. You will need to support on the open side of the connector as you install so the next board can go in easily. One caveat, I have had less than ultimate success using stainless in softer wood. It is likely this will be the main fail point on your installation should you be so luck as to live in a land of snow, ice, temperature extremes and expandable soils.
