BOW TIE
The bow tie is a type of necktie. A modern bow tie is tied using a common shoelace knot, which is also called the bow knot for that reason. It consists of a ribbon of fabric tied around the collar of a shirt in a symmetrical manner so that the two opposite ends form loops.
Bow ties may be made of any fabric material, but most are made from silk, polyester, cotton, or a mixture of fabrics.
Types of Bow Ties
- Pre-tied - the distinctive bow is sewn onto a band that goes around the neck and clips to secure.
- Clip-on - dispense with the band altogether, instead, it clips straight to the collar.
- Freestyle - also known as a "self-tie", or "tie-it-yourself" bow tie. The traditional bow tie, consists of a strip of cloth which the wearer has to tie by hand.

This bow tie is made of soft natural fibre (cotton) and works very nicely to tie together (pun intended) a less formal outfit. The light blue and white provide nice detail without too much contrast. The middle of the bow area is a bit wide, so that there is a little more rumpled look than I prefer, but this is very minor. It is fairly easy to tie, especially due to the adjustable size strap. Overall I highly recommend it.
