The construction was so bad that just by screwing this into a lamp, the connector base twisted apart. If that wasn't bad enough, my lamp is probably ruined now because I can't even unscrew it. Not even with pliers, because the metal part is so weak it just rips apart. This was after literally 1 minute of use, when I tried to unscrew it.Do not buy, unless you like bulbs that dangerously fall apart.

For 30$ I was shocked at the quality of these bulbs. My corals have had some great growth and beautiful coloring. I cant speak to growing sps corals, but hammer corals and softies love it. I recommend 2 for a 20 gallon long aquarium. Cannot recommend these more.

Had this shining directly on a cape sundew for about 1 year, plant has grown really well. Won't stop flowering and all the little seedlings it created have also grown really fast! Certainly not the intended function of this particular bulb but it works!Light itself is very bright and I haven't had any issues with flickering or dead diodes. The fixture only gets a little warm to the touch and only overheated when I was silly and put the lamp's hood on it. Currently it's screwed into a cheap desk lamp. After 1+ year of use I consider this to be really great value and as someone who used to do reef tanks I feel like this would be really useful for a nano or pico tank just by itself!

This light is more than capable of growing soft, lps, and sps corals. You simply don't get this brightness and color diversity at this price range from any other mainstream reef light. It doesn't come with any bells and wheels (no dimming, time functions, remote control, etc) but you're going to be spending hundreds of dollars for a reef light capable of growing sps with all that functionality built in.I hooked it up to a simple wall timer and old reptile lamp housing and at this price, its definitely a 5 star product.

A little hard to tell from my photo because of the Uv light interference, but my stylophora has gone from a yellowish white to pink with purple tips. I bought these after I lost ANOTHER AI light due to saltwater creep, left with only one. These are affordable to replace and actually work given that you are an experienced reefer that can provide consistent conditions. After a few months, my corals actually have color again. I keep my lights 8-10 inches above the water and only have two right now, but will likely be buying more.

Parabolic aluminized reflector (PAR) 38 bulbs control light more precisely. LED PAR lights produce about four times the concentrated light intensity.PAR38 18 watt bulb produces 1460 lumens, comparing to NICREW 30" long panel light which produces 1600 lumens, they are close in output. That light tells you the PAR value at 12" depth is 110. So the PAR value at 12" depth by PAR38 18 watt bulb should be estimated about MAYBE between 300-400There is a Youtube video showing a real PAR value test in a tank under PAR38 bulb. It did not tell you the wattage of the bulb or the depth tested. Look like a 20 gallon tank of 16" deep. The bulb is a few inches above the surface. The tested PAR value at the bottom is 200-250.The pro is, PAR38 bulb produces concentrated light for focal area with high intensity.Update: broken after 1 year

I bought this reef bulb to test it after I saw the reviews, and let me just say YES! This is the exact type of lighting I’ve been wanting my saltwater tank to have I currently have an Aqueon full spectrum LED strip and it does not give the type of lighting I was hoping for. I’ve only had a saltwater tank for a few months so I’m slowly building everything up to become a new reef by the end of the year and lighting has been been the hardest thing to find that’s not super expensive, high tech, with what I feel to be unnecessary for a beginner saltwater aquarium hobbyist, and for a low tech 55 gallon with nano reef fish. Definitely going to buy a couple more and clamp on lamps to mount them higher.
