First set of Lee dies I have purchased. I was really impressed with the quality and the product they produced.

I have been a Lee fan for a couple decades. Recently I have moved from Lee's progressive presses back to the Classic presses I started with. I am retired. What else do I have to do?! They are easy to use, setup and adjust. I would/will buy Lee dies again. Cheers.

Work exactly as advertised, built like tanks, and a fraction the cost of the competition.

While Lee gets a bad rap some times, I think that they make some amazing dies.I have a Dillon 550 that these work great in. Would still be using my Lee Turret which I actually think I was faster on, but my mom storing it in the shed while I was overseas kind of let rust set in, to the point I gave up trying to break it free. The Carbide Die Set is the way to go, especially on pistol. It saves time and effort by not requiring the use of lube for re-sizing.The Dies are set and forget, but after a few hundred rounds, will need to tighten them back down a touch unless you use some thread locker on the threads. The amount is minimal, but I think it was after about 400 hundred rounds, drift was .01 inches. Not a lot for just target shooting, but could make a difference if you are pushing max or minimum overall length. Unless I am going accuracy loads for my rifles, I shoot for the middle so a touch of drift is not painful (literally and figuratively! HA!) If they had a set screw on the locking nut, might be better or on the ring for the bullet seater die. These are good enough I use Lee Dies for everything on my press.

Lee makes great dies at great prices - everyone knows that already and these are no exception. Finish is clean, all parts work as expected, and of course Lee includes a shell holder which is not included with other brands. The "4 die set" states it includes the Lee Factory Crimp Die but this is not exactly correct...the included 4th die is a separate crimping die that uses a sliding roll-crimp ring that also provides a bit of taper crimping action. This is NOT the same as the Lee FCD which acts by the shell holder pushing up a sliding ring that is sectioned at the top and upon being pushed up, the "petals" are squeezed axially inward by an inside wall taper on the outer body thus producing a crimp that presses in from the side. Use of the FCD eliminates the possibility of bulging the case during crimping due to excessive downforce. (This is why only 4 starts)This set WILL ALSO work to load the .44 Magnum. The package insert also contains a generous amount of loading data that works with the supplied powder scoop that those new to loading will really find useful. One thing to note is the decapper located in the sizer die is held in place by tension - allowed to give and slide up rather than break the decapping pin if the primer won't push out. The locking stud that creates tension on the decapping rod must be screwed in quite tight in order that the rod not slide up TOO easily and fail to decap the average case. For the price point and quality it would be very difficult to justify purchasing any other Brand of die.
