I loved the idea (at first) of an extendable tamper, but ultimately found it difficult to clean. :/ It doesn’t quite hold position in a stable way when using — the extension position to the closed position — it’s too easy to “open and close”. There’s no mechanism that really locks it into place in a stable way. In addition, the extension portion of it makes it difficult to clean. I’ve found that when rinsing, the water stays lodged in the grooves/bars that go in and out of the main tamping station, leading to extremely long dry times (AKA, it never dries because there’s always water hidden in it somewhere). I’d much rather use a solid tamping station as a result, and ended up purchasing a Normcore 54mm ports filter holder instead. Otherwise, I really love MHW items! Their entire Astra collection is super beautiful. This just ended up not really working for me from an OCD sort of “keep your workstation clean” perspective.

This portafilter holder is a compact device that works well. There’s a good heft to it and the silicon pads on the bottom keep it securely in place on your counter while using it. Closes up for storage and certainly looks like it will work with most any sized portafilter between 51 and 58mm. Mine is 51mm and it fits securely on this, yet it looks like there’s still plenty of room for the larger portafilters.I was searching for the smallest tamping station I could find, and this MHW-3Bomber fit the bill perfectly. Closes up to a compact size, yet when opened holds the portafilter perfectly. I’m sure this will give me a lifetime of faithful service.

It’s decent and it helps but is it worth its price? That seems doubtful. Not sure why coffee accessories are so expensive when they should not be.

This. Is. Amazing! I was always so nervous to tamp my espresso down because I didn't want to damage the portafilter or my counter. When I saw this I was hopeful that it would solve this problem. It sure did! I even leave my portafilter in it after I use it and get it cleaned up just so that it isn't in the way and my coffee bar looks neat and put together. I love that there is an option for how long you need it to be. I think this will be a product that I keep forever because it is adjustable to whatever size portafilter I have.

流しが狭いため買いました。ポルタフィルターを保持して叩きつけても問題ありません。上側はほぼゴムで覆われています。コンパクトでオススメです。

After having some negative experience with the Ikape holder, which has no protection against portafilter scratches and also does not fit all 58mm portafilters, I decided to give the MHW-3BOMBER a try and it has it all in contrast to the Ikape. I really enjoy it. I find myself leaving it extended on my silicone pad as opposed extending it with every use.

Wobbly, not level at any setting, not a good positive feel when held manually at level. Magnets to keep it close are a good idea but no way to lock in the pull out setting for your specific handle should you have one that would actually fit.Good workmanship but the durometer of the silicone is too soft to provide proper tamping feedback.
