Whenever I review a tool that gives an inclination it could be used as an actual survival tool, I do it considering you could very well indeed need to depend on it!! I went over every little detail of this tool for its weak points, and strong points, to give a totally honest, bias, in depth review!allowing you to decide should it be the right tool for your particular situation!Overall Design of this tool is good, well thought out! That being said it does posses weak points that could be detrimental to a survival situationFirst foremost the knife, as it is rooted in a plastic set point it would not be something that could be relied on to hold up during a survival situation as it could be easily broken and left basically useless as designed! While the shovel head itself is made of a very durable solid stainless steel material, the attachment point again is of an inferior material of what I believe to be white metal that could be broken during any hardcore use such as repetitive chopping, trenching stones, cutting roots, etc.I find the handle to be pretty solid in design and do believe it to be a strong point of the tool that would take some abuse! The o rings for keeping out water tend to fall out and could be easily lost, so matches, and tinder for fire starting that’s could be stored in handle may be susceptible to moisture if o rings were misplaced! Aside from moisture intrusion the o rings are of no consequence toward the integrity of tool!I find the way the knife screws into the handle for storage allows the cutting edge to come in contact and rub against the wall of the handle while screwing it into the handle which will quickly dull the blade with every turn leaving the cutting edge highly compromised! The magnesium fire striker does deliver a pretty good spark when used with the knife! The whistle does deliver some sound, but not loud enough to travel any distance thru foliage or through the woods in general, more of a toy sound, very low decibel! The compass does work and is true to compass north, I find it reliable enough to follow!Back to the shovel itself, the sharpened cutting edge works decent for chopping 3” or smaller tree branches, and the sawing edge also works well for cutting smaller dry material , but does plug up cutting bigger circumference green sap wood as the teeth are pretty fine in size! The other items of shovel head such as bottle opener, cutting notch, nut sockets, all work well as intended !Overall should you be considering this tool for a around the house gardening, general small scale landscape work, etc, then by all means buy it, I’m sure it will hold up well to this type of occasional weekend use, and I do believe it was designed more for this type of usage in which they did a great job designing it for that purpose and I would give it 5 stars for that intended use!On the other hand if your considering this for a survival tool that could be relied upon to preform well through actual survival situations I would suggest you search out a tool specifically designed for that situation alone as in my opinion this tool is not constructed well enough to be able to preform day in day out through all the different functions it was intended for, I would give this tool a 3 star rating as a actual survival tool that could be relied on in actual survival senecios due to some inferior materials used at points in the tool! All being said I do believe, judging by the actual description given describing the tool it is more geared towards weekend gardening tasks, etc, in which it is capable for that purpose!!

This really deserves 5 stars, but unfortunately, the one I received had a threaded neck that was too long. The shovel head threads onto the handle. The problem is that either the male threaded part is too long, or the female threads cut into the inside of the handle is too short. The shovel head refuses to screw in further than shown (last picture). With this gap, the shovel head just flops about. I can solve this by cutting or grinding the metal male threaded part to fit, or by adding more washers to fill in the extra space (about 1 cm). As is, however, the shovel is unusable. Everything else on this is perfect. Great design, the other bits screw together perfectly, just that one flaw.
