The woodwork on this product is really good and match both the photos and my expectations. The metal spring brackets that attach the top cover of the chest and open it, are detached from the cover half-way with one of the screws completely snapped off.Sending it back is too big of a hustle, so I am faced either with fixing or replacing the brackets myself or using the chest as the prop and never opening it. Neither of the options are acceptable considering the money I paid for this product.I concede this could have happened during transportation. But using screws that come out or snap in half so easily is the case of inferior parts ruining good product.

I believe Amazon has taken over the shipping from Montana Woodworks. (If not they will pull this review.) Hence the shipping has improved substantially from when Montana Woodworks shipped their products. In any case, the products themselves are wonderful if you are in the market for this type of lodge room furniture. I personally am glad that Amazon is taking charge of the shipping and standing behind it. It encourages me to purchase more of this product line.
