Bought this starter recoil unit to replace the original broken unit on a Tecumseh 6.5hp engine. It fit fine, but the metal "dogs" inside the unit don't always catch the crankshaft coupling. It will work sometimes but generally slips most of the time. Thankfully the engine has an electric start as well. It's basically junk...

Quality well built part, works as designed and an upgrade over the stock pull start. Super smooth and has 3 splines instead of 1 grabbing the flywheel

This item is a piece of trash. Since I purchased this recoil starter, I have not pulled it one time that I did not have to rewind it by hand. Rewinding it with a running engine is far from safe. Do not buy this replacement starter!!!
