I have a few reels with the rubber coating on the handle knob fading and degrading, giving a sticky feeling when grabbed. For some of them, I've tried to rub off the whole coat with an achol pad, and expose the clean plastic part. But this process is somewhat tedious. The rubber socks on top of either the plastic or the decayed rubber coating provide an immediate remedy to this. However, as we can see from the attached picture, the sock is somehow a tad too short to fully cover the knob. Also, since most of my knobs are more or less trapezoidal, and the socks are rectangular, there is always a bigger gap on the narrower/smaller end of the knob. This can be improved if the diameter of the sock is smaller, or the sock is made into trapezoidal as well. Lastly, the sock is made fish-like to add a bit of fun to the design. However, the protruded fins kind of affect the grip, or at least don't add any function to it, whereas tend to break and fall off first. Personally I'd rather seeing it just symmetrically round.
