I've had this seat since Dec 2022 and for the most part it has held up pretty well. In the past few months it started to crack around the top of the seat back and started to show signs of wear (color is fading) The seat cover and foam is not as firm as an original J. D. seat.

Perfect fit for my GT235. I was able to use the my existing base instead of the new. It appears to be well made.

The springs were too tall for our mower so my husband uses the springs from the old seat and it worked out great. Very comfortable to sit on while mowing.

looks just like what it was replacing as the original seat started having some issues. Biggest noticeable difference is that this one has springs (the original OEM seat had more of a pad). as a result, definitely pushes you forward and up some, with the springs being very stiff. Hoping they will loosen up and break in some, but time will tell. Overall happy with the purchase

The seat base was not completely compatible. It would have required a complete tear-down of the tractor chassis to use this complete product as shipped. I was forced to remove the seat from the base by unhooking the hinge-pins and using my original seat base with the original hinge pin, since the diameter of the new hinge pin was much larger and would not fit in the old seat base -- and by mounting the new seat on the original base, which was not my preference. It forced me to scrap the (shipped) new seat base, the (shipped) seat spring screw locks -- and I had to improvise by removing the old (rubber cushion bushings), but I was able to insert the new springs into the old rubber bushing mounts into slots on my (old) seat base. Overall, I'm satisfied. I realize how hard it is to meet a standard seat replacement when John Deere is so averse to standardizing these things.

I took an MTD riding mower with a small, uncomfortable, hot, black seat (1st pic) and did a HUGE upgrade in comfort, safety, and back support, thanks to this product. The second pic shows the new seat once installed. Was it complicated? Yes! Was it worth the trouble? Definitely! The new seat is about 50% deeper and has a back that is 100% taller (2nd pic). The stock seat was hard on my back and was so small that I came close to dangerously sliding out of it several times. The cool yellow color of the John Deere seat takes care of the heat issue, such genius! The size of the seat is big enough to support my back and give me enough seat room so I stay put while riding, even on uneven terrain, which sometimes occurs. Western North Carolina IS hilly.I loved the fact that this came with a track that you can anchor to the mower’s frame, and the seat can be slid backward and forward. The seat itself pivots up and down on a shaft that goes through the front of the seat and two triangular solids in the frame which anchors the seat to the mower. It also was equipped with springs in the back for comfort. The one drawback to the design was that the tops of the springs would bounce against the back of the seat, made of plastic. This action of steel spring against plastic seat would eventually cause the plastic to break down. All factory seats of all brands have the springs resting on a steel plate, which is under the plastic seat. I overcame that issue by using the original stock springs, 3/4” shorter, and glueing a strip of 3/4” plywood across the back of the seat where the springs will rest/ride (3rd pic). Third pic also shows the track and how the seat sits just above the battery compartment. The track and the seat hug the battery and keep it in place. If you want to make your seat last longer, you may copy my idea.I had to move the adjuster which allows the seat to slide forward and backward from the inside of the left track to the outside of the right track. Otherwise, there was not enough room for the battery. I had to trim some plastic to make that happen.Anchoring the lower part of the track to the mower requires 4 bolts, not supplied. Use 5/16”x1” hex head bolts. These take a 1/2” socket. 1/2” is a perfect fit in the track that will run over the track that you are anchoring. Make sure you quit tightening when the hex heads are straight in the track. I found 1 usable stock hole from the original seat and drilled 3 more to make it work.I had previously purchased a yellow John Deere cover for the small black stock seat to help cool it. Now the new seat completely fills that cover (pic 4).As mentioned in my title, John Deere mowers with this size seat are $2,000 locally. For the price of this seat, some ingenuity, 4-5/16” bolts, and a bit of labor, you can be riding in style, safety, comfort, and coolness (that’s both cool points and a cooler color). And your neighbors will be amazed at the difference. I am. Or, you can always spend $2,000, your choice. The new seat does not allow for the kill switch, activated when you get off the seat. No matter, I had unplugged it years ago from the original seat, a nuisance switch.
