This skimmer basket hook is a small but mighty tool! It makes removing the pool skimmer basket so much easier. No more struggling with wet, slippery fingers. The design is sturdy, and it hooks securely onto the basket for a quick lift. Installation took seconds, and it’s been holding up well against pool chemicals and weather. A must-have for any pool owner looking to save time and hassle. Highly recommend!

I love this thing. My neighbor told me he bought one for his pool so I didn’t feel like a wuss when I said it skeeves me out to reach into the skimmer to pull out the basket so I ordered one too. It makes a much more pleasant experience byfar.

Thanks to this invention, I am no longer attacked when I pull and dump my skimmer basket. I have spiders, mice, frogs and a plethora of other bugs that collect in the basket. Reaching in was always terrifying. This solution allows for a comfortable grab at a distance. Installation was easy, taking only a couple minutes. You can also use the hook to pull the cover. That is a nice bonus.

Wow! The person that invented this handy device may just be my new best friend! We recently bought a home with an inground pool, and emptying the skimmer basket is a daily task. This was accomplished by kneeling on the ground, removing cover, and sticking my hand into the dirty water to pull basket up - until a tiny snake was in the basket. Although assured that it was a harmless garter snake, I can’t force myself to stick my hand back in to remove the basket. I happened on this nifty device and am so glad I did! Although no instructions came with it, it was very simple to put together. Just screw the blue plastic handle into the bucket and place back in the hole. When it is time to empty, use the metal hook to snag the basket to pull it out. No kneeling down, no fishing around in dirty water! The included hardware was in a tiny plastic bag, inside a small plastic case so there was no worry about lost hardware. Worth every penny, this is money well spent!

I have a large elm tree behind the house that makes a mess in the pool. The skimmers are always filling up with the seed pods, which mostly float and give the spiders and beetles a place out of the water. I don’t look forward to cleaning them out with my hand every few days. So, I got one of these beauties. I was afraid that the arm with the ring would be too flexible to pull a full basket up that is under pressure. However, it is much bulkier and stronger than I thought. I anchored it closer to the bottom to give it more lift instead of tilting when pulling out. The hook is even thicker and stronger than I thought. Almost too thick, although it does hook the baskets handle with a little effort. The reason I don’t just use the handle is that the handle sometimes comes off when the basket is full. This elevates that problem. It was easy to put together and looks very tough. Should last a while. The metal hook may end up rusting at some point, though, since I have salt water.

I bought this to be able to grab my skimmer baskets without completely bending over. I can bend over, but in order to get to the basket, I needed to get on my knees and put my arm down into the box. This allows me to be able to grab the basket without putting any part of my body below grade and I can stay on my feet. It hooks nicely on the cross bar on the basket and both the bar, and this tool are completely strong enough to effortlessly carry the load (even if full of cottonwood). I can store it out of the way because it's small and it is impervious to the weather because of its stainless construction. I did not use the included handle because it would not fit in my skimmer box and still allow me to close the box, which was a dealbreaker. Otherwise, I loved and would recommend.

My skimmer is spider Central. I’m not scared of much but the thought of a spider getting me is enough to wear. I do not want to put my hand down in that skimmer box. With my luck, I’ll run into the only brown recluse spider within 5 miles And that’s my biggest fear. This hook is at 100% lifesaver. I alternate between skimmers and one has a center divider that I can pull the skimmer right out and this kit comes with a little add-on device where I can attach a small circle, which I can then hook out and never have to reach my hand in that skimmer. Since testing, I am not went one time without using this hook system. It is now mandatory in a must and I wish I could give it more than five stars for solving such a big problem, but I can’t once you start using this you’ll never go without it. Five stars given.

This is a great idea! It is simple and works well. I used to try to time my hand entry while the dead mouse, snake, or whatever was on the opposite side of the skimmer and yet sometimes it still brushed against my hand. And the water spiders were always lurking. Yuck. This would also be great for people who can no longer squat to get the basket out. It was easy to attach and isn't interfering with skimmer function. The are 2 things I dislike, one of which is the inability to order JUST the plastic piece that goes in the skimmer without the hook. I wanted to try it 1st and now I want one for the 2nd skimmer but I have to buy the full kit again. Also, I assume the plastic piece will break eventually and, again, will have to buy hook and all to replace. More costly AND wasteful. The other is that this thing effectively stops you from using skimmer socks because you cannot cuff them around the top of the basket. You could still use one under the device but you would have to unscrew it. I handled this by ordering an extra basket for when I need to skim out pollen or a lot of lotion or something where only a good sock will do so I can swap them out.
