These are the best upgrade for sealed beams there is.You may have to cut and bend the tabs on the metal headlight bucket, near the rubber bulb seal. It is just larger in diameter than the hole in my 1988 gmcPolycarbonate and acrylic lensed competitors and led conversion units yellow over time and usually cost way more. These are solid and beautiful. The included bulbs are totally usable, and brighter than sealed beams. The aluminum reflectors create a nice paternity of light that easily aims with a strong cutoff above low beams so you know you aren't blinding anyone.High beams are better than many modern carsI also picked up a set of BEAMTECH H4 LED bulbs to try out. They work with the reflectors very well and light up about the same area, but they are excellent at showing every detail of the road in the lit up area, I can see icy patches and potholes clearer. When installing the leds, I had to trim the rubber seal at the back of these housings , it was to deep around the bulb itself ,like 1/8th of an inchAnd the bumps in the rubber that go up against the back of the housing. Again about 1/8th of an inch. A few minutes with a razor blade and the led will push into the rubber and fit nice.

I bought these headlight conversions for my 1997 Chevy C1500 pickup with the 4.3L V6. My truck had just your everyday sealed beam lights made by sylvania. As you probably know these OE style sylvania lights do not give the best light quality as they age. Buying these conversion lights was a must for me. I ordered these from amazon and the shipping was right on time, took about 4 business days. I tried to do some research on these lights but didn't find many reviews of installation videos. I went to install them and the OE headlight housing that holds the sealed beam in place had to be modified so that the tabs in the back of the housing (that would hold the original bulb in place) would accommodate the dust cover on the rampage housing. I had to take out the OE headlight housing and cut off these tabs so the new rampage light housings would fit. I then took some tin snips and trimmed the hole in the back of the OE light housings so that the dust covers would not be rubbed or cut. After trimming the OE housings the Rampage Conversion Lights fit perfect on the truck. All installed, I now have easy access to the back of the bulbs without any hassles. I would recommend go to Oreilly's and buy the high temp headlight sockets (Part # 84790) mine were old and crumbling. It is easy to pull off the whole front wiring harness clip that goes to the headlights. You need to take off the whole grill, front turn signals. There is a quick disconnect underneath the hood up on the driver side fender near the brake master cylinder. Disconnect the quick disconnect and follow the harness down the front of the truck; disconnect connections as you go, one for the washer pump near the washer fluid reservoir and one under the front bumper that connects to the air bag deploy sensor. (MAKE SURE your battery is disconnected and the air bag fuse is pulled inside the truck before this step) After all this you then can lay the whole harness out on a work bench and change out the headlight socketsThis product is great, amazing light quality. I did not use the bulbs the new lights came with. I have them as backups in my truck. I just went to O'Reillys and got some sylvania ultra bulbs. With these glass housing rampage bulbs I can see through the woods at night, and through snow storms no problem.

Good lights, definitely brighter than the stock lights that came on my 1998 Jeep Cherokee, basically bolts right into place without modifications. They have glass lenses and are constructed pretty well, seals are also supplied for the back of the lamp housing where the wire harness plugs into. If you want super bright lights, you would have to get brighter bulbs and change the wire harness.

I bought these to replace the sealed beam headlights on my 2006 GMC Savana Cutaway with a Trademaster tradesman-style box. If you're reading this, then you're aware of how uneven and erratic the beam is on a sealed headlight. I was leery about trying these because they were DOT approved. I was ready to purchase either IPF's or Hella's E-code, or European approved, headlights. I decided to try these because of Amazon's return policy. What I couldn't find was a decent description of how these performed. After I installed them, and re-aimed them, I was impressed for the most part. The beam pattern, as another reviewer noted, kept the spotiness to a minimum. The beam is rather consistent from left to right, and the cutoff is fairly defined for a prismatic lens. Along the top of the pattern (furthest from the truck) where it cuts off is a slightly brighter area in the middle-right. I have my left and right headlights pointed so the brighter areas sit side-by-side in the middle of the road. Beneath the cutoff (moving closer to the truck), the light remains consistent right up to where my hood gets in the way of my field of view. And, while I don't know how to describe the elevation that my low beam's cutoff, or how far out from the front of the truck I have them set at, where I set them on low beam worked perfectly when switching to high beam. In other words, the highs are perfectly shining down the road instead of too high or too low. The high beam does not have the cutoff. Instead, it throws more light down the road, left to right, while scattered light hits the trees above (good for when you're beginning up a hill) as well as in front of you, beneath the brighter area down the road. My only complaint is I would have expected a wider beam that would have covered the sides more. If I were to guess, the beam covers 30-35 degrees to the left and right of the centerline of the truck. I would like to have seen 50-60 degrees so I could see further when turning at stop signs or on side roads. In that respect, maybe that's what a DOT approved headlight is supposed to do?The other thing I liked was the style of rubber boot that goes over the lamp. It has a round grommet built into the middle that seals around the lamp base, rather than three slits that the lamp's electrical prongs poke through. I can't speak for how long the rubber grommet will last. I'll try to remember to edit my review in six years.I intend on keeping them since the cost was fair, and they came with lamps. They're so much better than what I had.EDIT 8/14/14:These lights are still doing a great job. The lenses haven't pitted, nor scratched from road debris. There is no discoloration nor distortion of the reflector from the light bulbs' heat. And, there has been no entry of moisture or water. I ordered a second set for my '87 Cherokee for off-road trips. I've been really happy with these; I changed my four stars to five.
